Welcome back everyone. I'm Katherine
0:02
with Katherine's Plates. Today I'm going
0:04
to show you how to make a quick and easy
0:06
weekn night meal. This is chicken egg
0:10
roll in a bowl. Oh, it's going to be so
0:12
delicious. You can serve this over white
0:14
rice, brown rice, or you can even wrap
0:16
it up in a lettuce leaf. However you
0:19
want to do it. I did this in a soup one
0:22
time and it was delicious. All right,
0:25
you guys. It is low carb, but who cares,
0:27
right? It is full of flavor and it's
0:31
We're going to be using some ground
0:34
chicken. Now, you can use ground
0:36
chicken, you can use ground turkey, you
0:41
pork, or even if you have ground beef,
0:43
you can use that if you have a lean
0:44
variety. Okay, you guys, let's start off
0:50
We're going to get a little bit of oil
0:51
going into our skillet. I'm just using a
0:55
Ground chicken tends to be a drier, lean
1:00
It doesn't release anything. So, we're
1:03
going to give it a little oil in there.
1:09
Let's add the chicken.
1:12
Now, about halfway through the cooking
1:14
process of the chicken, I'm going to go
1:16
ahead and season with some salt.
1:21
Just lock in some flavor into that
1:25
and some black pepper.
1:29
Then we'll finish cooking this off.
1:32
We want to make sure it's no longer pink
1:34
and broken up into tiny pieces.
1:39
You know, you get those cravings for
1:40
Chinese food. And the only way really to
1:43
get Chinese food is to spend $80 to get
1:46
everything you want. This will take care
1:51
I've got some dumplings in the freezer.
1:53
You know, we can heat those up and have
1:55
that with this. So, yeah, cuz all the
1:59
flavors are going to be here.
2:02
All right, our ground chicken is all
2:03
browned up. It's no longer pink. We're
2:07
going to remove it and we're just going
2:08
to add it to a plate.
2:21
All right, we're going to set this
2:22
aside. Now that we got our protein all
2:25
cooked up, we're going to start with the
2:26
veggies. Now, I've got five cups of
2:30
shredded cabbage and carrots inside
2:33
here. Now, you can be very quick with it
2:36
by using the prepackaged stuff, which is
2:38
what I'm using. It's aricolor kleslaw.
2:41
It's 16 ounces. I measured this out and
2:44
it's like five cups is what you're going
2:46
to need total between the cabbage and
2:47
the carrots. So, if you want to shred
2:49
your own, just get a head of cabbage and
2:52
you can shred it and then add in some
2:54
julianne style carrots, which I added
2:56
extra carrots into mine cuz that wasn't
2:59
enough. So, we're going to get that
3:02
started. We need to wilt that all down,
3:03
get a nice color to it. So, in the same
3:06
skillet over the mediumigh heat,
3:09
we're going to add 1 tbsp of sesame oil.
3:16
Now, don't worry if you don't have it.
3:18
You can put the olive oil in there. You
3:20
just need one tablespoon.
3:23
All right, we're going to go ahead and
3:24
take our shredded cabbage and carrots
3:26
and add it to our pan.
3:29
Now, this is all going to wilt down. I
3:32
know it looks like a lot.
3:45
Right, we're going to cook this down
3:47
till it's very soft. It's going to have
3:50
a nice golden brown color to it also.
3:56
Okay, the cabbage is almost wilted down.
3:59
What we're going to do is make a sauce
4:02
and we're going to start in a small
4:06
We're going to be putting in soy sauce,
4:11
Now, you can use the low sodium, which
4:12
is what I'm doing right here,
4:15
or you can use the coconut aminos,
4:19
or whatever variety you prefer.
4:23
Two teaspoon of sesame oil. I think I
4:27
had a little overspill there.
4:31
Two tablespoons of hoen sauce.
4:39
One tablespoon of rice vinegar,
4:44
cracked black pepper,
4:59
Okay, now we're going to turn down the
5:01
heat to a medium. Now that we got our
5:02
cabbage all done, we're going to add in
5:06
two to three teaspoon of minced garlic.
5:11
Now, if you have fresh ginger, you can
5:13
add the same amount. I'm just going to
5:16
be using some ginger in the jar.
5:21
Make sure you go light across that.
5:25
We're going to stir this all in for one
5:34
All right, we're going to add in our
5:36
cooked ground chicken.
5:57
Hey, what kind of lean protein are you
5:59
going to be adding to yours?
6:02
Ground pork, ground chicken, ground
6:05
beef, or even ground turkey?
6:10
Any of that will work.
6:15
All right, let's add in the sauce.
6:30
Get it all out of there.
6:33
That is a level of flavor in here.
6:40
Doesn't that look good?
6:45
Smells like an egg roll.
6:53
And if you need your carb, cuz we don't
6:55
have the wrapper here, make you some
7:00
If you want rice, you can do cauliflower
7:05
I showed y'all how to make cauliflower
7:08
fried rice before. That was really
7:11
delicious. You couldn't even tell the
7:13
difference. The flavor was all there.
7:19
Now, if you want to bulk this up, you
7:21
can add some scrambled eggs to it. Give
7:23
yourself some more protein if you want
7:29
Now, I'm going to garnish with some
7:33
That way, we can get some onion flavor
7:38
go all the way into those greens.
7:42
That's good. We'll sprinkle some on top
7:44
with some sesame seeds. We'll save some
7:46
for if people want extra green onion on
7:48
the side. Here we go.
7:59
And some sesame seed.
8:05
There we go. That is my chicken egg roll
8:09
in a bowl. Here's my bite.
8:35
I love this low carb dish. It doesn't
8:37
even appear low carb, right? It's so
8:40
full of flavor, so yummy, and it
8:42
definitely reminds me of egg rolls.
