Welcome back to Katherine's Plates.
0:02
Today you guys, we are in the crock pot.
0:04
I have some sirloin steak in the
0:07
refrigerator that I need to use. I am
0:09
going to put veggies with it and we are
0:11
going to drown it or smother it in a
0:14
delicious gravy. Those sirloin steaks
0:17
will be so buttery tender and it'll be
0:20
so delicious. The first thing we're
0:22
going to do is come over here and I am
0:27
going to season up the sirloin steaks.
0:29
Get a pan. We're going to get that nice
0:31
and hot with some oil, a little bit of
0:33
butter, and get those steaks delicious
0:36
before they even go in the crock pot.
0:39
You can use any steaks you want. You can
0:41
even do a roast with this recipe. I'm
0:44
doing the steaks because I had them in
0:45
the refrigerator. We had them for a
0:46
reason, but we didn't get to them soon
0:49
enough. And I just have a few more days
0:51
left on them, and I want to go ahead and
0:52
just get these cooked up for us. So,
0:55
just in a regular skillet, I'm going to
0:57
put it on mediumigh heat. I'm going to
0:59
add one tablespoon of butter. We're
1:01
going to get that nice and hot. Now,
1:03
I've got my steaks here.
1:06
I'm going to do three pieces at a time
1:08
in my skillet and just get these browned
1:09
up.
1:11
So, I'm going to go ahead and season the
1:14
top side here with a little bit of salt.
1:18
Now, I always use pink Himalayan salt.
1:21
Now, I've changed to that. It's really
1:24
good salt.
1:26
Some black pepper.
1:29
Season them good. This is flavor. Some
1:32
onion powder.
1:35
Garlic powder.
1:42
And then I'm going to get some paprika
1:44
because I want to add some smokiness to
1:47
this dish. And once I put them in the
1:48
pan, I'm going to do that seasoning side
1:50
down.
1:54
I'm going to move that around to get
1:56
that oil and butter all over the pan.
1:57
There we go. Now, we're just going to
1:58
leave it alone so we can lock in that
2:00
delicious sear,
2:03
which is flavor,
2:05
nice edges, and color. We're going to
2:08
season that side. Now, while we're doing
2:10
that side, I'm going to go ahead and
2:12
season
2:13
these on one side before we add those in
2:16
for the second batch.
2:18
Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion
2:23
powder,
2:25
and
2:28
smoked paprika. Now, we're going to cook
2:30
the steaks for about 2 to 3 minutes on
2:32
one side, and then we'll flip them over.
2:36
So worth it, you guys.
2:41
Oh, look at the color of that.
2:44
Flip it over.
2:46
Do it backwards so y'all can see it.
2:48
Look at that.
2:53
Now, if you need to add more oil, go
2:55
ahead and add more oil.
3:03
It's a beautiful day today. Okay, I'm
3:05
getting started early because I want to
3:06
get the crock pot going because it'll
3:08
take a while because anything you cook
3:09
in the crock pot takes a while. Low and
3:11
slow, right?
3:14
I've got my six quart crock pot that I'm
3:16
going to be using, I'm going to spray it
3:17
along the sides on the bottom with some
3:20
non-stick cooking spray.
3:22
Once the steaks are done,
3:27
we're going to remove them from the pan
3:29
and place them into the crock pot.
3:35
create a nice layer down there.
3:50
All right, let's add the other two.
3:52
Seasoning side down. There it is.
3:57
We'll just finish these up.
4:01
Don't forget to season.
4:03
Let it sit for just a few minutes. We'll
4:05
rotate them around.
4:09
Pretty pretty pretty
4:14
that
4:16
crockot's not going to do that for you.
4:19
It'll make them really, really, really
4:21
tender, but it won't give you that nice
4:23
color.
4:25
Two more minutes. We're going to put
4:26
them in the crock pot. Now, just
4:28
remember, we're not cooking the steaks
4:30
all the way through.
4:32
We're just giving them that nice color
4:35
and sear.
4:40
Now, I've turned off the burner to my
4:41
pan for just a second to kind of cool it
4:43
down just a little bit. I'm going to get
4:45
my vegetables ready. What's great about
4:47
this recipe is you can use whatever you
4:49
have. I had some leftover sliced
4:51
mushrooms. Now, they're pretty big,
4:53
which is great for me because I'm not
4:54
really a mushroom fan, but I can kick
4:56
those out of there once the dish is
4:58
done. I found a red bell pepper that's
5:01
ready to go. He's a little wrinkly, so
5:03
I've already washed them off.
5:06
Take the tag off.
5:08
I found half a yellow onion.
5:13
And then I got some cloves of garlic
5:15
over here. We'll just mash up and throw
5:17
in there.
5:18
And I do have a red onion over here that
5:22
we'll chop up. And I got some potatoes.
5:25
These are really small mini potatoes.
5:27
And I'll just cut these up so that they
5:29
cook. Aren't they like They'll be nice
5:31
and creamy, right? All right.
5:34
So, I'm going to go ahead and get my pan
5:36
back on and then chop up some veggies
5:38
and get those in there. We're just
5:39
softening them down just a little bit.
5:40
Get all of them mixed up together with
5:42
the flavors in our pan. Let's see. and
5:47
get the pepper in first.
5:50
Oh, there's a baby one in there.
5:54
Just going to slice them up. You can put
5:57
them in there any way you want. As I'm
5:59
cutting them up, I'm going to add them
6:01
to my pan. If you need more oil in your
6:04
pan, go ahead and do that.
6:08
These will soften down in the crock pot
6:11
a lot. I am going to add some oil to it.
6:16
I'm going to put some Is that a cross
6:18
thing? Put in some of these mushrooms.
6:22
I think that looks good. We'll just put
6:25
them all in there. There we go.
6:28
Thomas will be happy. These are pretty
6:30
big mushrooms. I'll be able to find
6:32
those. I'm going to take my yellow onion
6:35
and I'm going to take off that outer
6:37
layer. Chop it up. These will all melt
6:40
down also.
6:45
Get that in there. I'm going to take my
6:48
three garlic cloves. I'm just going to
6:49
bash them up on the counter here. Get
6:52
this all mixed up into the vegetables.
6:53
This way it helps really get everything
6:55
mixed up together.
6:58
Oo, doesn't that look good? There we go.
7:02
I'm going to chop up some baby potatoes.
7:06
Whatever potatoes you're using, make
7:08
them about a/4 of an inch thick,
7:10
bite-sized pieces. That way they cook
7:14
with everything else. I'm going to take
7:16
a spatula,
7:18
start moving this stuff around.
7:25
Yeah, look at that.
7:28
Just until I get everything chopped up.
7:31
I want get all those flavors from the
7:33
bottom of the pan when we cook the
7:35
steaks into the vegetables.
7:38
Just scrape it around.
7:44
We'll start adding the potatoes.
7:48
It's got a full meal going on here. All
7:51
right, I got all the potatoes in that
7:52
I'm going to add. We're going to start
7:54
incorporating all of our flavors so it's
7:56
all in one pan here. I've got one packet
8:00
of lip and onion soup mix.
8:04
We're going to need one can of cream of
8:07
soup. I'm using cream of celery for
8:09
flavor. You can use cream of chicken or
8:11
cream of mushroom. It'll just help keep
8:14
everything nice and thick. I'm going to
8:16
add one can of beef broth to the can
8:20
here. And then we'll get all that out of
8:21
there for liquid.
8:24
Mix that up.
8:29
There we go.
8:33
Doing it all in one pan. That way we're
8:35
not dirtying up another bowl. wishes
8:38
sauce. I'm gonna go in with about a
8:40
tablespoon. Whatever I have left in
8:42
there.
8:46
We're gonna add some ketchup,
8:54
little bit of salt,
8:56
black pepper,
8:58
garlic powder, onion powder. The garlic
9:01
and onion powder will enhance the actual
9:03
garlic and the onion that are in there.
9:05
and some more smokiness with the
9:07
paprika.
9:09
I'm gonna turn off the burner and then
9:11
we're going to stir this all together.
9:13
Make sure you kind of give it a taste
9:15
with the spoon and get your flavors
9:17
where you want them.
9:19
Woo! What do y'all put in yours? What
9:21
kind of vegetables? What do y'all got
9:23
hanging around in the refrigerator
9:24
needing to be used up? Let's pour this
9:27
all over the steak.
9:40
Smother it on in there, you guys.
9:46
There we go.
9:49
Bury it on in there. The steaks.
9:52
You get all that flavor in there.
9:55
Cover it with the lid.
9:57
We're going to cook this on low for 6 to
10:00
7 hours or you can cook it on high for 2
10:04
to three hours until your veggies are
10:06
nice and tender and the steak is tender
10:09
also. Look at that you guys. Oh my gosh.
10:15
Tender, juicy steak.
10:20
That gravy, let me tell you, it
10:22
smothered those steaks. Went right
10:24
through them. Made them so tender. Those
10:26
vegetables are nice and tender. Also,
10:29
I'm going to plate this up. What I did
10:31
was I put some parsley in there just to
10:33
kind of give it a nice color for you
10:35
guys. I'm going to plate this up. Give
10:37
it a try for you.
10:40
Look at that gravy.
10:46
All right, let's cut into it.
10:50
Oh, yeah. That's tender.
10:56
Oh yeah. See, it falls apart. I'm give
10:58
that a try for you. Oh my gosh, that is
11:02
so tender,
11:05
juicy.
11:08
Oh yeah, fork tender on those potatoes.
11:10
I'm leaving the mushrooms for my
11:12
husband.
11:14
Now I got those bell peppers in there.
11:16
Gives it a nice color. And those onions
11:18
added a little sweetness to it. Give me
11:20
a thumbs up on this one. If you're new
