Welcome back everyone to Katherine's
0:02
Plates. Today we are going to make a
0:04
delicious 30 minute meal that is low
0:07
carb and very healthy. This is called
0:10
garlic butter ground turkey skillet. Now
0:14
these are going to be the ingredients
0:16
you're going to need to make it. Now the
0:18
vegetable that I'm going to be adding in
0:19
to kind of bulk it up is the
0:22
cauliflower.
0:23
And then we've got some Parmesan cheese
0:25
for flavor. Got the ground turkey. one
0:29
pound. Got some garlic cuz this is a
0:32
garlic
0:34
butter sauce that we're going to make.
0:36
Got my seasonings. Salt, pepper, smoked
0:39
paprika, garlic powder, onion powder.
0:41
We've got some parsley to give it some
0:43
nice color in the dish. And then we got
0:46
chicken broth. All right, you guys.
0:48
Let's go ahead and get that garlic
0:50
going. I'm going to be using lots of
0:52
fresh garlic for this recipe.
0:57
One, two,
0:59
three.
1:01
I'm going to be doing four
1:04
cloves of the garlic here. All right.
1:07
I'm going to smash all the garlic cloves
1:09
and we're going to take all of the paper
1:11
off of them. So, just place the flat
1:14
edge of your knife on the garlic clove
1:16
and beat it down till it's flattened.
1:19
We'll do that with all of them.
1:22
Now, if you want to use jarred garlic,
1:24
you can do that.
1:27
it is not going to have the same level
1:29
of flavor.
1:33
All right, I'm just going to take my
1:35
sharp knife here. We're going to run it
1:37
through the garlic.
1:41
Make sure you tuck your fingers in.
1:45
And I'm looking for a mint.
1:48
That'll distribute the flavors all
1:49
through this dish. Oh, it smells so
1:52
good.
1:55
Why not? If you can do it fresh, do it
1:57
fresh.
1:59
Now, you can do it like this, like I
2:01
just did, or you can even get your
2:04
garlic press and use that.
2:09
That's it right there. All right, we're
2:11
going to set aside our garlic. We're
2:13
going to bring over a cutting board and
2:16
we're going to bring over our
2:18
cauliflower.
2:20
We're going to cut this into fuettes.
2:22
I'm just going to take the same knife.
2:24
Now, you're going to use one head of
2:26
this. I'm going to break off some of the
2:28
stems here so we can get to the root of
2:30
the cauliflower here, which is that big
2:33
stem down there.
2:37
I'm just going to go in
2:40
and cut around the stem.
2:43
We go.
2:46
And then we'll pull the cauliflower off.
2:49
And that's what we have left, which we
2:51
don't need.
2:52
Now, what I want to do is cut these down
2:54
into bite-sized pieces.
3:06
About like that right there. I'm going
3:08
to finish the rest of these up.
3:12
They're going to soften down as we cook
3:14
them.
3:15
All right, we're going to get ready to
3:16
sauté
3:19
our cauliflower.
3:21
The two main things that you wanted to
3:22
have done before we started this recipe
3:24
was have your garlic ready to go and
3:27
your cauliflower.
3:29
This is going to be a fast put together
3:31
meal cuz it's only 30 minutes to do
3:32
that. So once you get all this put
3:34
together, it is ready to go. We're going
3:36
to put our burner onto a medium heat.
3:40
Going to place our large skillet on top
3:42
of it. And then we're going to add two
3:44
tablespoon of butter. One and two. We
3:49
want to get that nice and melted.
3:53
Well, I've been trying some new dishes
3:55
for you guys.
3:59
Making a more low carb. What's great
4:01
about this dish is you can serve it with
4:04
rice,
4:06
pasta, quinoa. If you want to keep it
4:09
really healthy like that, you can do
4:11
that.
4:12
Serve it with a baked potato next to it
4:15
or a sweet potato.
4:18
Yeah, many, many options.
4:22
All right, now what we're going to do is
4:23
sauté down the cauliflower for about
4:26
five to seven minutes till it's nice and
4:29
tender.
4:31
Should have a nice lightly golden color
4:34
to it. Also,
4:36
now you can put a lid on it and let it
4:40
steam and every minute just take a peek
4:42
at it and give it a stir.
4:52
Now, depending on the size of your
4:54
cauliflower that you used,
4:57
you may have to add a little more liquid
5:00
to the pan here. So, I'm going to add
5:03
another two tablespoons of butter. This
5:05
is a garlic butter dish, so we'll add
5:09
some more butter.
5:13
We'll get that moving around in there.
5:15
Here
5:22
we go. Now, about halfway through the
5:24
cooking, I'm going to go ahead and start
5:26
seasoning it up a little bit. You can
5:29
see it's starting to get brown,
5:31
softening down. I'm going to add a
5:34
little bit of salt,
5:39
black pepper,
5:42
smoked paprika,
5:46
little bit of garlic powder,
5:49
and onion powder.
5:54
And get that all mixed up nice and
5:56
combined.
6:01
Now, if you have big pieces of
6:03
cauliflower, not the small ones, it's
6:05
going to take a little longer to cook.
6:06
So, you just need to judge it. You might
6:08
have to add a few more minutes to it.
6:17
All right.
6:19
Look at how golden brown this is. It
6:21
smells delicious. Just take a fork,
6:25
just press it through. Yes. Nice and
6:27
tender. That's what you want. Yes. Mine
6:31
took a little extra time, about two more
6:33
minutes to get to this here. I was
6:34
always shaking it around, putting the
6:35
lid back on. Shake it around. Put a lid
6:37
back on it until I got to this right
6:39
here. Turn off the heat for just a
6:41
minute.
6:43
And we're going to place it onto a
6:44
plate.
6:56
All right, we're going to set this aside
6:59
and we're going to bring over our
7:00
turkey.
7:03
And you got it, more [snorts] butter.
7:06
We're going to place our skillet on the
7:08
medium heat.
7:12
We're going to add in two tablespoons of
7:15
butter.
7:17
Allow that to melt.
7:19
We're using the same pan.
7:23
This butter has helped flavoring up the
7:25
dish.
7:28
Now, once this has melted, we're going
7:30
to go ahead and add in the one pound of
7:34
ground turkey. This is a lean meat. Now,
7:38
this is cheaper than ground beef, but
7:41
you can certainly do this dish and use
7:42
ground beef if you want to.
7:50
We're going to break it up.
7:53
We're going to cook it until it's no
7:55
longer pink and cooked through.
8:01
Okay, look at this. That turkey is nice
8:03
and cooked through.
8:07
We're going to go ahead now and add that
8:09
minced garlic.
8:12
About one tablespoon.
8:14
We're going to get all that in there.
8:22
Stir that around. We want to cook this
8:23
for 1 minute
8:28
to release the flavors of the garlic.
8:30
While that's happening, we're going to
8:32
go ahead and start seasoning up.
8:35
Salt right across the top. Black pepper,
8:43
garlic powder,
8:47
onion powder.
8:49
I'm put some onion powder in there. Load
8:52
that up. And then we're going to get
8:54
some paprika in there.
8:59
Give us some color. Stir that around
9:02
till everything is well coated with the
9:04
seasonings.
9:07
Right. We're going to add in the
9:10
cauliflower that we sauteed. We're going
9:12
to add that in.
9:17
We're going to add in half a cup of
9:19
chicken broth. That'll get those flavors
9:22
going.
9:24
Yeah, I'm not done with that flavor, you
9:26
guys.
9:29
I got some Parmesan cheese. Let's grate
9:32
that in.
9:36
About 1/4 cup.
9:38
We go.
9:41
I'm going to chop up some parsley. We're
9:44
going to add that in. All right, let's
9:46
combine this together.
9:51
Oh, I love that green in there from the
9:53
parsley.
9:54
Gives it a nice pop.
9:59
That's it, you guys.
10:01
That is our 30inut lowarb healthy garlic
10:06
butter ground turkey skillet with
10:09
cauliflower.
10:12
Let's turn off the heat. Let's bowl it
10:14
up.
10:24
All right, we're going to give it some
10:26
extra parmesan. Give that a try for you.
10:30
All right, what are you serving yours up
10:32
with? Rice, quinoa, some potato, some
10:37
pasta. You're going to keep it very low
10:39
carb and make it like this right here.
10:45
Grab a bite.
10:48
Got some cauliflower, the turkey, the
10:52
cheese,
10:53
all the seasonings.
10:58
That garlic smells wonderful in this
11:00
dish. All right, here's my bite.
11:12
Wow,
11:20
that's good.
11:27
I'm glad y'all suggested doing some
11:28
turkey dishes.
11:31
This is really delicious. It's cheaper
11:34
than ground beef. It's leaner.
11:40
Flavor it up, you guys. Salt, pepper,
11:43
garlic powder, onion powder, paprika.
11:45
There's parsley in here, the butter,
11:48
[laughter]
11:49
and some chicken broth.
11:53
All right,
11:55
[applause]
11:56
there's my hand clap. I'm excited about
11:58
this one. All right, you guys, give me a
12:01
thumbs up. Make sure that you comment
12:04
down below if you want to see more
