Hello everyone, welcome back to
0:01
Catherine's Plates. We are going to make
0:03
pork chops in 30 minutes tonight. This
0:06
is an easy weeknight meal.
0:10
When you hear 30 minutes, you think
0:12
ground beef, chicken, sausage, but have
0:15
you heard pork chops in 30 minutes?
0:17
They're going to be nice and tender.
0:19
We've got a creaminess that we're going
0:21
to smother the pork chops in and I got a
0:23
shortcut for that. All right, you guys,
0:26
we're going to start off by seasoning
0:28
our pork chops and let me tell you
0:31
make sure you get some nice size pork
0:33
chops. Here's what I'm using. Now, this
0:36
is 1 lb of pork chops and it was $7.74
0:40
and these were pork loin boneless center
0:43
cut chops.
0:46
You don't want the chops to be too thick
0:48
because if they're too thick they will
0:51
take longer to cook and they won't be as
0:53
tender.
0:57
This is what I'm using right here.
1:02
So, you want them to be about half of an
1:05
inch to 3/4 of an inch thick and I am
1:09
using the boneless ones.
1:12
Just makes for an easy meal.
1:14
Now, we're going to season up the pork
1:16
chops with some salt. We're going to get
1:19
them nice and flavorful.
1:22
This will help kind of form a crust on
1:24
it
1:25
and get a nice color to these pork
1:26
chops.
1:29
And then we're going to put in some
1:31
black pepper. We're going to get the
1:33
flavor town going here.
1:36
Garlic powder.
1:42
Yeah, flavor flavor flavor.
1:46
Onion powder.
1:56
Now, to give it a nice color, I'm going
1:58
to put some paprika on it, too. Smoked
2:01
paprika, so it'll add a nice flavor to
2:03
it.
2:06
Just take a fork and just press the
2:08
seasonings in. Now, I've pulled my pork
2:11
chops out of the refrigerator about 15
2:13
minutes while I was getting everything
2:15
else ready.
2:16
That'll take the chill off of them.
2:21
We're going to flip these over and we're
2:23
going to do the other side.
2:29
There we go.
2:33
Salt.
2:37
Black pepper.
2:40
Garlic powder.
2:44
Onion powder.
2:49
Smoked paprika.
2:55
Press it in.
2:57
Let's sear these up. Now, to sear up the
3:00
pork chops, we're going to be in a large
3:02
skillet over medium-high heat.
3:05
We're going to place in 1 Tbsp of
3:07
butter.
3:09
And we're going to add in 1 Tbsp of some
3:12
cooking oil. I'm using olive oil right
3:14
across the top. Don't put too much in
3:16
there.
3:18
But, what you do want to have happen is
3:19
have that butter nice and melted into
3:21
the oil and have it a little bit of a
3:23
sizzle going on before we add the pork
3:25
chops.
3:26
That way, we can get a nice sear on the
3:28
pork chops. All right, we've got a nice
3:30
sizzle going on in the pan. We're going
3:32
to take our pork chops that have been
3:34
seasoned on both sides and we're going
3:35
to start placing them in.
3:40
Now, the important thing is just to let
3:42
these sit for about 3 to 4 minutes on
3:45
one side before we flip it over. We want
3:47
a nice golden brown color on the bottom
3:50
the
3:51
You want them about halfway cooked up
3:52
there. That way when you flip them,
3:54
they'll cook the rest of the way.
4:05
Let them rest.
4:06
While the pork chops are doing its
4:08
thing, we're going to go ahead and dice
4:11
up a one medium yellow onion.
4:14
Just take off the sides.
4:19
Peel off that outer layer.
4:24
We're going to add something to it.
4:29
And then we're going to dice it up.
4:31
All right, let's flip these over.
4:35
Look at that beautiful, beautiful color.
4:37
If you need to add more oil to your pan,
4:39
do that. Cuz you don't want to dry these
4:41
out.
4:45
Ooh, look at those.
4:48
All right, 3 to 4 minutes on the other
4:50
side. Just keep an eye on it. Cut your
4:51
onion in half. We're just going to cut
4:53
strips.
4:59
And then we'll just rotate it a quarter
5:00
of the way and then run our knife
5:02
through the strips
5:04
to make dices. And then we'll have that
5:06
ready.
5:08
Make sure you tuck your fingers in when
5:09
you're chopping onions.
5:11
There we go.
5:13
All right, that's ready to go. Let's
5:14
check our pork chops.
5:16
Grab your plate.
5:20
Let's check the pork chops. Look at
5:23
that.
5:24
That's what you want to eat, right?
5:27
We're going to place them on a plate.
5:30
Yeah, look at that.
5:32
Three and four.
5:35
Mhm.
5:40
Look at those.
5:43
All right, I'm going to take my pan off
5:44
the heat for just a minute to cool it
5:45
down just a little bit before start the
5:47
next step. We got our pan back on. I've
5:49
still got the oil in the pan and I'm
5:51
going to add 1 Tbsp
5:53
I'll get it right now for you of butter.
5:55
We'll melt that in.
5:57
And then we're going to add in
5:59
that diced onion.
6:12
Get all those little bits up from the
6:14
pork chops. That
6:16
is flavor.
6:20
Now we're just going to cook this until
6:22
the onions are nice and soft.
6:25
It smells delicious. All the seasonings
6:28
off of the pork chops and the butter and
6:30
the oil
6:32
smells delicious.
6:36
We're going to add in 1 cup of chicken
6:38
broth.
6:41
And then I have a secret ingredient
6:43
coming up. It's a shortcut
6:48
to making this creamy and herby.
6:52
Now we do want to bring this to a boil.
6:56
And let's talk about the secret
6:57
ingredient while that's coming to a
6:58
boil.
7:01
Right here. This is a spreadable gourmet
7:04
cheese. It's called Boursin.
7:09
And it's garlic and fine herbs.
7:12
Now if I didn't say that right, I am so
7:13
sorry. It could be said anyway.
7:20
And this is a five woo 5.3 oz size.
7:25
We're going to take it out of the
7:27
wrapper here.
7:31
Okay. It comes in a round form like
7:34
this.
7:35
We're going to place that right in the
7:36
center and then we're going to mix it in
7:38
until it is nice and
7:45
All right, I'm going to try that right
7:47
here.
7:50
Mhm.
7:52
That is very delicious, nice and creamy.
7:57
So, I'm going to start breaking it up in
7:58
here.
8:00
Mixing it in.
8:02
I don't know if you can see that, but
8:04
this is what I was using right here.
8:08
Just be really careful when you're
8:09
stirring this around.
8:14
You don't want to splatter everything.
8:17
Now, we're letting this simmer for about
8:19
3 to 5 minutes until all of that cheese
8:21
is melted. So, once you get all that
8:23
cheese incorporated in,
8:31
we're going to give it a try.
8:41
I cannot wait.
8:45
Now, what we're going to do
8:47
>> [music]
8:48
>> is put the pork chops back in.
8:53
Those beautiful pork chops, lay them on
8:56
in.
9:01
One.
9:03
Two.
9:05
Three. Carefully lay it in, no
9:07
splattering.
9:11
And four. And you know what else?
9:14
All those juices, put them on in. That's
9:18
flavor.
9:23
Grab a spoon.
9:25
Just pour it over the pork chops, your
9:27
sauce there. We are smothering this in
9:30
there.
9:32
We're going to turn the heat down
9:36
to a medium medium low.
9:40
There we go.
9:41
And we're going to let this simmer just
9:43
until everything is nice and thick
9:46
on the sauce.
9:49
And then we just want to make sure that
9:50
the pork chops are nice and tender and
9:52
cooked through. So, you just want to
9:54
check with a kitchen meat thermometer
9:56
that it your pork chops are at least
9:58
145.
10:00
And then it's done, you guys. You can
10:02
serve this up with mashed potatoes,
10:04
rice, pasta, or a side salad, or your
10:09
favorite vegetable, whatever you like.
10:11
But, I'm going to come back and I'm
10:12
going to show you the pork chop.
10:15
I'm going to give it a try for you.
10:16
All right, you guys. Look at this. Which
10:19
one do y'all want? One, two, three, or
10:21
four?
10:26
Look at that sauce, that creaminess, the
10:29
herbiness. Look at that.
10:32
Let's plate that up.
10:42
Now, I did top it with some fresh
10:43
parsley while it was in the pan. So, I'm
10:46
just going to put a little fresh parsley
10:48
on the top here.
10:51
Just gives it a nice pop of color. Makes
10:53
you want to eat it, right?
10:57
Look at that.
10:59
Let's grab a bite.
11:07
Look at that. Nice and tender, juicy.
11:16
Mhm.
11:25
You can do pork chops in 30 minutes.
11:27
I just showed y'all and gave you proof
11:29
of that with a shortcut using that
11:31
Boursin cheese.
11:33
Wow.
11:34
That is so good. Serve up that gravy
11:37
over some mashed potatoes, some rice, or
11:40
pasta.
11:42
Make that a delicious meal cuz that
11:43
gravy
11:46
Mhm.
11:49
That is good. You can smother those pork
11:51
chops in there. That is a winner in my
11:53
book. All right, everybody make sure
11:55
that you hype, share, give me a thumbs
11:57

one.
