Today we are going to be cooking in the
0:02
crock pot. I am going to make a creamy
0:06
Philly cheese steak and torillini. It's
0:09
kind of like a casserole in there and
0:11
it's going to be really delicious. Now
0:14
the flavors and ingredients will mimic a
0:16
Philly cheese steak. We've got the beef,
0:20
peppers, onions, mushrooms, which I'm
0:23
going to be substituting zucchini for
0:25
cuz I get the same texture from that.
0:28
We're going to have cheesy torillini and
0:30
it's all going to be in a delicious
0:32
creamy sauce making a familyfriendly
0:35
meal. Perfect for the summertime or
0:39
anytime you want to put a crock-ot meal
0:41
together. This can take all day or you
0:43
can cook it on high and make it half a
0:45
day recipe. All right, you guys. First
0:48
thing we're going to do is we're going
0:50
to start with the ground beef. And I
0:51
have 1 and 12 lbs. We're going to go
0:54
ahead and just cook up the ground beef
0:56
because the texture of ground beef, if
0:59
you try to cook it in the crock pot, is
1:01
not the same and it kind of gives it a
1:03
mealy texture to it. So, I like to cook
1:06
my ground beef first before placing it
1:08
into the crock pot. I've got my skillet
1:11
on a mediumigh heat and I'm cooking up 1
1:14
and 12 lbs of ground beef and I'm just
1:16
going to break it up and start browning
1:19
it up. Now, what's great about this is
1:21
that we can multitask. So, while the
1:23
ground beef is doing its thing, we can
1:25
work on the vegetables. Now, this will
1:28
make a big amount of the casserole. So,
1:31
I'm going to be using two medium yellow
1:34
onions. Going to cut off both ends.
1:39
And then, if you just slice through a
1:42
small layer there, you can peel off that
1:46
So, I'm going to slice my onion in half.
1:50
lay it down on the cutting board.
1:53
And then we're just going to follow the
1:54
lines of the onion to make slices.
1:59
And just remember that the onions will
2:01
soften down in the crock pot
2:03
considerably. That's why I'm using two
2:05
right here. Now, while I'm cooking down
2:08
the ground beef, I want to keep the
2:15
And what's great about this recipe is if
2:17
you want to use thinly shaved steak, you
2:20
can do that also for this recipe. All
2:22
right, the next thing that we're going
2:24
to slice up are bell peppers. I've got
2:27
two green ones. Now, with the peppers, I
2:30
may go and half these. They're pretty
2:36
They won't soften down considerably like
2:38
an onion. So, nice bite-sized piece
2:42
right there. Now, another ingredient you
2:44
can add to this is mushrooms because
2:46
that belongs in a Philly cheese steak,
2:47
right? But I am not a fan of mushrooms.
2:50
So, I tend to use a zucchini because it
2:54
kind of gives the same texture and it
2:58
So, if you don't like mushrooms, try a
3:02
And what I'm going to do is
3:08
cut it in half lengthwise.
3:12
Y'all see that? And then just take it
3:16
just like that. And then what we'll do
3:22
and half moon shapes.
3:30
These will soften down considerably,
3:32
too. So, I got two zucchini going in.
3:36
All right, let's start building
3:37
everything in the crock pot. Now, I gave
3:39
some color to my ground beef, and it has
3:41
nice big chunks right there,
3:44
which is what we were looking for. Kind
3:46
of give it a meteor texture to this
3:48
dish. Make it nice and hardy. So, place
3:51
this in the bottom of your crock pot. If
3:53
you have excess grease in your pan, you
3:55
can take some of that out.
4:08
Now, we're going to add all of our
4:10
vegetables right on top. The onions,
4:22
Here we go. Get those vegetables in
4:25
We're going to add in three cups of beef
4:33
Let's bring in the flavor town. I have
4:35
one teaspoon of Italian seasoning, one
4:37
teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of
4:41
onion powder, got half a teaspoon of
4:44
black pepper, and then half a teaspoon
4:46
of salt. Now, when I was using my beef
4:49
broth, it was 50% low sodium.
4:53
That way, we can control what goes into
4:56
the dish. Right there.
4:58
All right, we're just going to sprinkle
5:04
Take your spoon and we're going to mix
5:05
this all together. Get everything well
5:12
Now, the creaminess and the cheese
5:15
torillini will come at the second half
5:17
of this recipe. Place a lid on.
5:21
We're going to cook this on low for 6 to
5:25
7 hours. You want those vegetables to be
5:28
nice and tender. Or you can cook this on
5:31
high for between 3 to 4 hours, which is
5:34
what I'm going to do. 30 more minutes or
5:37
so for the vegetables to be done. I'm
5:40
going to go ahead and start adding my
5:50
I'm going to add the other cup of beef
5:56
Now you want to mix this all together to
5:58
kind of get those pastas on the bottom
6:05
Let them sink on in there.
6:11
I'm going to add one block of cream
6:14
cheese. I'm just going to put it right
6:15
on the top and let it get nice and soft
6:17
while everything is cooking. Finish
6:20
cooking. Now, you want to make sure that
6:22
your crock pot is on a high heat.
6:25
right in the center. Don't mix it in.
6:27
Just let it sit there. We're going to
6:30
place the lid back on.
6:33
And then once this is all done, I have
6:35
one more thing to add to it before we
6:37
mix it all together. Took 40 minutes to
6:39
finish cooking the pasta until it is
6:42
nice and tender. And you can tell that.
6:44
Look at that. Yeah, I was moving them
6:47
around a little bit, making sure that
6:48
the top ones got into the liquid about
6:50
halfway through the cooking process. Now
6:52
we've got our cream cheese that is nice
6:56
Then I got 8 oz mozzarella cheese
7:00
shredded that I'm going to put on top.
7:02
And then what we're going to do is blend
7:04
this all together. Now you want to stir
7:06
this very carefully because you don't
7:08
want to bust up the torillini too much.
7:10
We just want to get the cheese nice and
7:12
melted inside of there. All right, I've
7:15
got it all mixed up. Look at this, you
7:17
guys. Okay, Thomas is really excited
7:20
about this. I'm going to bowl this up.
7:21
Give this a try. The longer it sits, the
7:24
more that liquid will absorb into
7:28
I got it bowled up. Let's give this a
7:34
Mhm. Look at all that cheese, you guys.
7:44
That is so delicious. Tastes like a
7:46
Philly cheese steak that we're used to
7:48
down here. It only took four hours to
7:50
get the whole thing done. Nice cooked
7:52
pasta. Now, if you don't want to do the
7:53
torillini, you can put any pasta in
7:55
there, whatever you want. All right,
7:57
give me a thumbs up on this one. Thomas
7:59
is super excited about it. Y'all were,
8:01
too. When I told you I was going to make
8:03
this in my haul that I did the other day
8:05
