0:00
welcome back everyone I'm Katherine with
0:02
Katherine's Plates Today I'm going to
0:04
show you how to make fried bologoney
0:08
cornbread sandwich This one means a lot
0:12
us When we travel we always like to find
0:16
a good one and this one was it We found
0:19
this one in Jefferson Texas It's about 4
0:23
hours from us All right So what I'm
0:25
doing is grating some cheese because
0:28
we're going to use half of it in the
0:30
mixture and then we'll put half of it on
0:31
top of that cornbread Now Jefferson
0:34
Texas is a very small town And we went
0:38
to Kits cornbread and pie and it's just
0:43
a little store and they make these
0:45
sandwiches and all these delicious pies
0:49
And you got it Thomas was the one that
0:51
got the fried bologna cornbread sandwich
0:54
and I got the club one So you can do
0:55
anything once you know how to make those
0:58
cornbread slices of bread All right
1:02
we're going to set this aside and let's
1:04
start building the cornbread We're going
1:06
to be using one box of the Jiffy corn
1:09
muffin mix Now I'm not using the one
1:11
with the honey in it This is an 8.5 oz
1:15
size We're not going to follow the
1:17
directions on the back of the package
1:19
because that will make a crumbly
1:23
suitable for a sandwich So make sure you
1:36
go We're going to add one cup of
1:40
milk And then we're going to take half
1:43
of the cheese that we
1:48
grated We'll put that in there Yeah And
1:52
then we're going to put
1:56
tablespoon of cooking oil Now I'm using
1:59
avocado oil cuz that's what we always
2:01
use for anything We'll just add that All
2:05
right We're going to mix that all
2:12
Yeah Jefferson is known for the hotels
2:16
haunted Now we stayed at the hotel
2:20
Excelsier which is known to be haunted
2:23
also And we heard some crazy noises at
2:25
night but they had a great brunch They
2:30
had I don't like grits but I like their
2:33
grits All right let's put this in our
2:36
baking dish put my gloves on because I'm
2:38
gonna be working with this thing right
2:41
here All right I'm just going to spray
2:43
it I got some avocado cooking spray We
2:48
stick and we're going to put our mixture
2:53
in Now this is going to be a thin
2:58
cornbread All right I'm going to get a
3:00
spatula Maybe I'm going to get my offset
3:04
Yeah there we go smooth it
3:09
out It's going to be a very thin layer
3:19
here We're going to take the rest of the
3:21
shredded cheese We're going to sprinkle
3:24
top Give it a nice cheese flavor to the
3:28
cornbread There's so many different
3:30
recipes out there to making cornbread
3:33
for sandwiches We've come up with this
3:38
here Thomas loves the jalapeno in the
3:43
cornbread I'm going to bring one over
3:45
here And I've already given it a nice
3:47
wash I got my gloves on And then we're
3:54
circles Is that good yeah that'll work
3:57
Thickness there You can go a little
4:02
And then we're just going to place these
4:05
on half of our cornbread mixture here
4:09
because I'm not a big fan But I'm going
4:12
to put them where we're going to cut
4:14
sandwiches I guess And then you better
4:16
move that one down to about the center
4:19
Yeah we'll do this right here There you
4:20
go I think that'll be good right there
4:22
Yeah just two rows That's plenty right
4:25
there We're going to pop this in the
4:28
oven I have it preheated at
4:31
425° It'll bake for about 20 to 25
4:34
minutes until it's nice and golden brown
4:37
We want to cool this completely and I'm
4:39
going to show you how we're going to
4:40
bake the fried baloney Now my cornbread
4:43
has cooled down completely and because
4:45
it's thin it didn't take quite as long
4:47
about 30 minutes to get it done I put it
4:50
on some trivets here so that the air can
4:52
go up underneath of there and cool it
4:54
down even faster Now we're going to fry
4:56
up some baloney I got beef right here
5:00
You just need a large skillet We're
5:03
going to put that on a medium high heat
5:05
I'm going to add about one tablespoon of
5:07
cooking oil to it and get that nice and
5:09
hot Now sorry about the sound quality at
5:12
the beginning of the video We forgot to
5:15
mic up We did right now So she forgot
5:19
She forgot He forgot Y'all know he's the
5:22
cameraman He takes care of all that
5:26
She had me doing other stuff y'all This
5:29
is the cornbread right here Doesn't that
5:30
look delicious and we'll get into that
5:32
here in just a minute I've got my pan on
5:35
a medium high heat Just going to swirl
5:37
some oil in there Get it nice and hot
5:41
Now thick baloney would be really good
5:43
for this but we didn't realize that they
5:45
cut our baloney on a zero thin It's like
5:50
paper So we'll be making a lot of fried
5:54
Don't make it all Y'all hear that we're
5:57
going to make it all We are
6:02
We want it to get nice and crisp and
6:04
kind of a golden brown Maybe charred a
6:07
little bit on the ends And yes we know
6:10
it's going to bubble up in the middle
6:13
That's fine Yeah We got our little
6:15
spatula here that we're going to like
6:17
sit on them Poke a hole right in the
6:20
center Mhm We're going to turn these
6:24
times It's definitely getting nice and
6:27
golden brown on the inside here Crispy
6:30
edges That's what we're looking for
6:32
We'll give it a few more minutes I've
6:33
been flipping them around These are very
6:36
thin so they're like kind of walking up
6:41
bit All right we're going to take these
6:45
off and finish these up Oh yeah look at
6:49
that Oh yeah that's mine I call it that
6:56
Oh heck yeah All right Because these are
6:58
very thin we're going to have lots of
7:00
slices What we What did you say how many
7:02
were there i think uh 10 10
7:06
This is the rest of them Look at that
7:08
Now you can cut these as large as you
7:11
want I'm going to make mine and show
7:18
you All right Now that's the
7:22
bottom on the plate I'm putting
7:29
mine I'll save that for the top
7:33
part All right Here's our board I'm
7:37
going to put some cheese on it Swiss
7:39
cheese Yeah Swiss cheese Y'all see
7:43
that the fried bologoney on it You want
7:47
that piece right there yeah
8:05
lettuce Now Thomas is going to put Dijon
8:10
and he's has the jalapenos on his part
8:19
that is a fried baloney cornbread
8:23
sandwich I'm going to take a bite for
8:44
saltiness That's really good
8:48
I love this sandwich and that cornbread
8:55
good That takes me back to Jefferson
9:00
Texas They have those haunted hotels All
9:11
Mhm All right who's making this one
9:17
who's making it with fried bologna You
9:18
can also do just deli meats and put it
9:22
on top of your sandwich here and not
9:23
have the fried bologna but whatever you
9:25
want to do Give me a thumbs up on this
9:27
