Today I'm going to show you how to make
0:01
an easy, mouthwatering
0:04
cabbage goulash with ground beef. Yeah,
0:09
the cabbage is going to take the place
0:10
of the pasta, but you can have both in
0:15
this dish if you want, which I'm going
0:17
to do, the cabbage and the pasta
0:19
together, but you can certainly separate
0:21
it out. All right, you guys. It's an
0:23
easy weekn night meal that everyone's
0:25
going to love. I am starting in a large
0:28
deep skillet. that way can hold
0:30
everything. Or you can use like your
0:32
spaghetti pot or a Dutch oven. You just
0:35
don't want a skinny skillet for this
0:37
recipe. I've got one pound of ground
0:40
beef in there. We're going to start
0:41
cooking this up.
0:43
Now, you know, I'm always trying to find
0:45
new ways to make cabbage cuz I love
0:48
cabbage. One of my favorite vegetables.
0:53
Yeah.
0:54
We're going to use that whole head
0:56
today.
0:59
because it'll wilt down into nothing,
1:01
but it absorbs all those delicious
1:04
flavors.
1:06
All right, I'm going to finish browning
1:07
up the ground beef and then we'll be
1:09
right back.
1:11
Okay, the ground beef is almost done.
1:15
We're going to push it off to the side
1:16
and then what I want to do is just place
1:18
some paper towels in, absorb some of the
1:20
excess liquid,
1:22
because we're going to add our own
1:24
delicious flavors
1:26
to this dish.
1:40
What we're going to do now is add our
1:43
diced onion.
1:46
I just have one yellow medium onion. I
1:48
just diced it up. We'll add that.
1:53
We're going to cook this for about 2 to
1:54
3 minutes while stirring.
2:00
soften down those onions till they're
2:02
nice and translucent.
2:06
If you're going to be adding some pasta
2:08
to the cabbage goulash, go ahead and
2:12
start bringing your pot of water to a
2:14
boil. And then we're going to cook the
2:16
pasta per the directions on the back of
2:18
the package. I'm only going to be adding
2:20
8 oz of this pasta to that water. All
2:23
right, that'll be for the dish.
2:28
All right. Once your onions are nice and
2:30
softened down and translucent, we're
2:33
going to add in one teaspoon of minced
2:36
garlic.
2:40
We're going to stir this in. We're going
2:42
to allow those aromomas to come out of
2:44
the garlic and into the meat and onion.
2:47
Just stirring this for one minute.
2:54
Now, the best pasta to use for your
2:57
goulash
2:59
is an elbow macaroni. That's pretty
3:02
popular for it, but you can use whatever
3:04
you have in your pantry.
3:07
While your onions and your garlic are
3:09
cooking, we're going to go ahead and
3:10
start cutting up our cabbage. Now, I've
3:13
taken off some of the outer layers of
3:15
the leaves, and I'm just going to cut
3:17
off the sides. I've already rinsed it
3:19
off,
3:21
so just slice down the four sides.
3:25
around the edge of that core.
3:29
Just like that. And then we'll leave the
3:31
core part there also. We'll get rid of
3:33
that.
3:36
And then we're just going to chop it up
3:38
into bite-sized pieces, which is about
3:41
one inch pieces. So, I'm just going to
3:44
run my knife through
3:47
and chop it up.
3:56
That way it's easy to eat.
3:59
Y'all, I really can't wait for this one.
4:02
I'm excited.
4:04
Anything with cabbage in it is good.
4:07
This will almost remind you of like
4:10
cabbage roll.
4:12
Cab casserole that I've made before.
4:17
It may have the same flavors just about.
4:20
close.
4:22
And then what we'll do is we'll add
4:23
this. You want about four cups.
4:28
All right, we're going to add the
4:29
cabbage.
4:36
And I think that may do it right here
4:40
cuz I may use the rest of this for
4:42
another dish. I'll have to save that. I
4:45
can make some coastlaw out of that.
4:47
shred it more finely and make a
4:49
delicious co-law out of it. I'm going to
4:51
start moving this cabbage around in the
4:54
pan here for about 5 minutes till it's
4:57
softened down.
4:59
While that's happening, we're going to
5:01
go ahead and add our noodles to our
5:05
boiling water.
5:07
Now, while we are softening down the
5:09
cabbage, I'm going to start cooking up
5:11
the pasta because my water has come to a
5:14
boil. And we're going to cook that till
5:16
it's nice and al dente
5:19
or to the texture that you like your
5:21
pasta.
5:23
When your cabbage is all wilted, it
5:26
should look like this.
5:28
Yeah. Look at the color of that.
5:32
All right, let's add some flavors.
5:34
Finish this up.
5:36
We're going to take one can of diced
5:39
tomatoes and we're going to use the
5:41
juice and all
5:44
that.
5:54
This was
5:56
14.5 oz size.
6:01
We're going to add in 10 oz of tomato
6:05
soup or you can use tomato sauce. You
6:09
want 10 oz.
6:14
We're going to add in half a cup beef
6:17
broth,
6:21
a little slug of a whooashire sauce.
6:29
We're going to season with salt.
6:34
We're going to give this a taste later.
6:35
So, we're going to give about a/4 of a
6:38
teaspoon of these seasonings. And I've
6:40
got black pepper.
6:44
And then we've got
6:47
going to add some smoked paprika.
6:49
There you are. Right here. Some smoked
6:51
paprika.
6:57
And then we're going to add in some
7:01
oregano.
7:03
We'll stir this all together and give it
7:06
a taste. See where our flavors are.
7:14
It looks so good in there.
7:17
All right, let's give it a try.
7:32
Wow, that's delicious.
7:36
All right, we're going to add our pasta.
7:39
All right, my pasta is about 2 minutes
7:41
from being al dente. I want to let it
7:44
finish cooking in the sauce of our
7:46
cabbage goulash. So, I'm just going to
7:49
drain it with my spider.
7:52
Pop it in there.
7:55
This was 8 oz of the pasta.
8:04
Right, let's stir it all together.
8:09
It's going to simmer for about two to
8:11
three minutes. So, I'm going to show you
8:13
what we're going to how we're going to
8:14
finish this off.
8:17
Now, if you're not going to add your
8:18
cooked pasta to it, just simmer this for
8:21
two minutes like it is. And we're going
8:24
to add something delicious.
8:26
Y'all know what it is. Come on. It's
8:29
going to be cheese.
8:33
We're going to shred some cheddar
8:34
cheese.
8:41
Put 4 ounces.
8:44
It was soft because I left it out.
8:47
This thing works really well when your
8:48
cheese is nice and cold. There we go.
8:52
All right. So, we're going to place this
8:53
on top.
9:02
Going to stir it in
9:08
till that cheese is all melted.
9:13
This is my cabbage goulash with ground
9:15
beef and pasta.
9:30
All right, we're going to bowl that up.
9:33
Okay, you guys, look at that. Look at
9:36
all that cabbage in there. That's where
9:39
I'm going.
9:44
Got the ground beef, all those delicious
9:47
flavors, and some pasta in there.
9:50
Here's my bite.
10:01
I love that cabbage in there.
10:07
Mhm.
10:10
Don't forget that pasta. If you cook it
10:12
for about 2 minutes after it's already
10:13
in there, it'll absorb all those
10:15
flavors.
10:19
Mhm.
10:25
There you go you guys. This is my
10:27
cabbage goulash with ground beef and
10:31
pasta. Leave the pasta out if you want a
10:34
low carb meal, but you can do it any way
10:38
you want. All right, you guys. I'll see
10:40
you on the next episode. Don't forget to
10:41
give me a thumbs up. Share this recipe
10:44
with people that love cabbage
10:47
and they love goulash. All right, I'll
10:50
see y'all on the next episode. Bye.
