Welcome back everyone. It is appetizer
0:03
day and I'm going to show you how to
0:04
make these delicious Chicago dog pigs in
0:11
This is a whole new way of turning a
0:15
Chicago style hot dog into a delicious
0:19
bite. We got football season coming up.
0:22
Who are y'all rooting for?
0:24
It's football time. This could also be
0:28
used for any type of appetizer or small
0:30
bite that you were looking for,
0:31
especially around the holidays. Grab a
0:33
box of puff pastry sheets. They come two
0:38
in a pack. We're only going to be
0:39
needing one. You would thaw these out in
0:42
your refrigerator overnight.
0:47
Now, one sheet of puff pastry is going
0:50
to make you somewhere around 24
0:54
of these bite-size appetizers.
0:58
Now, what we're going to do is roll out
1:05
Take off the little paper, take a
1:07
rolling pin, and then we're just going
1:11
to get it nice and even. You want to
1:13
make sure that the edges right here are
1:18
Now, I just took a knife and I just
1:22
put some edges right there. So, I can
1:23
see that I'm going to do six going
1:25
across here. And then I have four right
1:30
We're not mathematicians and we're not
1:32
engineers. So, whatever you get, that's
1:34
what is you get. It's totally fine. Take
1:37
my pizza cutter and I'm just going to go
1:47
No one's going to be measuring. And then
1:49
we're going to go across.
1:51
So, this will give me 24. Now, I just
1:55
separated them that way we can work with
1:57
them before we put these on the
1:58
sheetpan. Now, the next step is to get
2:01
your hot dog. Now, you can use hot dogs
2:04
for this. You can use cocktail franks or
2:06
the little wieners, or you can even use
2:09
Vienna sausages if you like those. If
2:11
you're using regular hot dogs, you need
2:13
about six of them because we're going to
2:18
Now, these are the ones that I'm using
2:19
right here. What's your favorite hot
2:24
I'm going to cut them in half if you're
2:27
doing the hot dogs. And then I'm going
2:32
to get them into four pieces.
2:35
And that'll give me the 24 that I need
2:37
right there. And I think being a
2:40
sausages are about this size. If not,
2:42
you can cut them in half. The cocktail
2:46
franks generally are about that size
2:49
anyway. So, you don't have to cut those.
2:51
Now, take each quarter of the hot dog
2:54
and place it into the center of the puff
2:57
pastry square. Just like that. Who are
3:00
y'all rooting for this year for
3:02
football? We're in Southeast Texas. So,
3:06
guess who we're rooting for? the Bears.
3:16
Let us know down below. All right, we
3:18
got them all on here. Now, let's give it
3:22
a little flavor. You're either going to
3:28
or some banana rings, which I like the
3:32
banana pepper rings because they're a
3:34
milder flavored pepper. And we're going
3:37
to put a few slices onto each next to
3:39
the hot dog. It's mild.
3:45
Mhm. Let's load these up.
3:49
So, just kind of lay it next to the hot
3:57
And we'll get the last one on there.
3:59
Crack one egg into a small dish.
4:08
We're going to add one teaspoon of
4:12
Take a fork, whisk this all together
4:19
Take a pastry brush, dip it into the egg
4:22
wash, and we're just going to wash one
4:24
corner of each square of dough here.
4:31
What you want to do, one corner that's
4:34
not egg wash. Bring it up over the hot
4:36
dog and the pepper. And then you're
4:38
going to bring over the washed
4:42
corner there. It's the opposite one. And
4:46
bring it over. And then just push it on
4:48
there. The thing is is that we want to
4:50
be able to see that hot dog and the
4:52
pepper. Just like that. What I'm going
4:54
to do is place these on a sheet pan. And
4:56
I've lined them with another piece of
5:04
Take the rest of your egg wash and we're
5:07
just going to wash the tops of them.
5:09
That'll help get them nice and golden
5:14
Two components of a Chicago dog. Got to
5:17
have the celery salt and the poppy
5:19
seeds. I'm going to sprinkle a little of
5:28
Got my oven preheated at 400°. We're
5:30
going to bake these for 16 to to 20
5:34
minutes until they are a deep golden
5:38
brown color. The puff pastry is nice and
5:41
puffed up around the ingredients. When
5:44
these come out of the oven, we're going
5:45
to make a delicious sauce to dunk these
5:48
in. More mimicking of that flavor.
5:51
Chicago dog. To make the dip, I've got
5:53
half a cup of mayonnaise in a small
5:55
bowl. We're going to add in three
5:58
tablespoons of yellow mustard.
6:04
And then we're going to add in
6:07
two tablespoons of a pickled relish. You
6:10
can use sweet or dill.
6:16
We'll be adding in one tablespoon of
6:18
dried minced onion, or you can just chop
6:25
That looks good. A little bit of juice
6:27
from your banana pepper jar.
6:31
That looks good. And then we're going to
6:33
sprinkle in some celery salt.
6:45
Now, as always, once you get it all
6:47
combined, give it a taste and make sure
6:49
your flavors are where you want them. If
6:51
you need anything else, you can just
6:59
Oh, that's good. Wow. Telling you that
7:02
celery, man, it just brings it all
7:06
All right, let's plate everything up.
7:08
Game day ready. Chicago dog pigs in a
7:11
blanket with our special dip, which I
7:14
topped with some diced tomatoes.
7:17
Y'all, look at these. Aren't they
7:28
>> Oh my god, those are good.
7:55
>> You are not going to be able to put
7:58
They are so good. Look at this, you
8:02
All right, thumbs up on this appetizer
8:05
or small bite, whatever you want to call
8:08
it. These would make a good dinner, too.
8:11
Anytime you want to make these, you saw
8:13
how easy it was. All right, thumbs up.

8:26
you? All right, you guys. I'll see y'all
