Merry Christmas everyone from
0:01
Catherine's Plates. Today I'm going to
0:03
show you how to make a Christmas treat.
0:07
Rice Krispie snowballs. Oh, these are
0:11
delicious. They're like little Rice
0:13
Krispie treats packed with a little
0:16
snack inside coated and then they look
0:19
like little snowballs. It's going to be
0:21
fun to make. We're going to start kind
0:24
of like you would if you were going to
0:26
make Rice Krispie treats. So, I'm in a
0:29
large pot or my Dutch oven and I'm going
0:31
to put it on a medium heat
0:35
and let's right here and we'll get that
0:39
going and we're going to melt five
0:42
tablespoon of butter.
0:50
All right, we want to get that
0:51
thoroughly melted.
0:54
Now, while that's happening, I'm going
0:56
to measure out one cup of peanut butter,
1:01
creamy.
1:04
And I'm going to save the rest of the
1:06
peanut butter cuz I'm going to make
1:06
Thomas some peanut butter cookies.
1:09
All right. I'm looking for
1:12
half a cup.
1:14
And then
1:17
you're going to want one bag of mini
1:19
marshmallows.
1:22
I'm going to squish all this down. You
1:24
want 10 ounces of the mini marshmallows,
1:28
which is generally one bag.
1:32
I'm so excited for Christmas.
1:35
You want to make sure that that butter
1:37
is all melted.
1:41
All right. Now, what we're going to do
1:42
is add in the half a cup of peanut
1:44
butter.
1:46
Stir that in.
1:53
And while that's melting together, we're
1:55
going to add in our 10 oz of mini
1:57
marshmallows.
2:00
The whole thing.
2:04
And we're going to stir this until the
2:07
marshmallows have melted and combined
2:09
with the butter and the peanut butter.
2:14
Just take the back edge of your spatula
2:17
and just smash down all the
2:18
marshmallows.
2:20
That way they melt faster.
2:23
All right. Once we got all the
2:25
marshmallows melted inside that peanut
2:27
butter and butter and it's nice and
2:29
combined, we're going to turn off the
2:31
heat
2:33
and remove it.
2:37
There we go.
2:41
All right. Now, as fast as you can, you
2:43
need to measure out six cups of Rice
2:46
Krispy cereal. I've got a four cup and a
2:49
two cup.
2:58
All right, we're going to pour those in.
3:05
All
3:10
right. Now, we're going to mix the coat.
3:16
Dig deep for it. You guys,
3:19
try to keep some of it in your pot
3:20
there.
3:22
I got a beagle down there. She's faster
3:25
than me sometimes.
3:29
We definitely got a good mix. It smells
3:30
good. Love that peanut butter in there.
3:35
All right. What you want to do is let it
3:38
sit for about 10 minutes to cool down.
3:42
Now, we're going to use these little
3:44
Reese's minis unwrapped
3:48
for these little snowballs. I'm going in
3:50
with a 1 and 1/2 inch cookie scoop. Just
3:54
going to kind of pull some out. It
3:55
doesn't have to be perfectly flat on
3:57
there. And place it in the palm of your
3:59
hand. We're just going to smash it.
4:03
And then we're going to put one of the
4:04
Reesei peanut butter cups on the middle
4:05
of it.
4:08
They're very small. And you're going to
4:09
put it right in the center of it. And
4:11
then you're going to wrap the Rice
4:12
Krispie treat around it to form a ball
4:16
shape.
4:20
And then just roll it just like that.
4:23
And then we're going to put it on a
4:24
parchment lined sheet pan.
4:29
All right. I'll show the others.
4:33
You kind of have to work fast because
4:35
it'll start cooling down really good on
4:37
you. So, just flatten it out.
4:45
And then we're going to roll it around
4:47
the mini Reesei peanut butter cup. Just
4:50
like that. And then roll it like a ball.
4:58
All right, you guys. had made 35 of
5:00
these. We still had a little bit left in
5:03
the pan, but we could not even get it
5:04
out of there. Thomas came over here and
5:06
helped me roll these. So, now we got to
5:09
make them look like snowballs.
5:12
Now, I have got a block of almond bark.
5:16
It's 24 oz. This is the vanilla flavored
5:19
coating. You can use like white
5:23
chocolate chips if you want to do that.
5:25
Um, you need 24 ounces for this recipe.
5:29
I'm going to open this up. I'm going to
5:30
put this in a microwave safe bowl. And
5:32
then I am going to
5:35
get some scissors here. Manhandle it.
5:40
We're going to cook this per the
5:41
instructions on the back of the package
5:43
to melt this. And it says 90 seconds,
5:47
then stir. And then stir every 15
5:50
seconds out of the microwave.
5:56
All right, that's what it looks like
5:57
right here. So, I'm going to break it.
6:00
There we go.
6:03
90 seconds.
6:05
All right, that's 90 seconds. I'm just
6:07
going to mash it using the heat of the
6:10
bowl
6:12
to melt this because you don't want to
6:14
overdo it. You don't want to singe the
6:17
bark.
6:19
Think I'm going to need another 15
6:21
seconds.
6:27
Oh yeah, perfect.
6:31
Now I'm going to take a toothpick.
6:34
I'm going to place it in.
6:37
Then I'm going to dunk it in.
6:40
Tap it a little bit to get all that
6:42
excess off.
6:44
I think I need to dunk them more. There
6:46
we go. And then we're going to place it
6:48
back on the sheetpan.
6:50
Let them set up.
7:02
There we go. So, I'm taking some of the
7:06
white chocolate here, the almond bark.
7:08
I'm just going over the top a little bit
7:10
where the hole was from the toothpick
7:13
and just covering that up.
7:18
And then we got to decorate them.
7:23
I'm using the blue sanding sugar
7:26
sprinkles.
7:28
Make it look like it's glistening in the
7:30
snow.
7:34
And I'm going to cover these with it.
7:41
You want to do this before that white
7:43
almond bark sets on these. There we go.
7:48
That look good?
7:49
Yep.
7:54
There's my Rice Krispie treats.
7:57
Snowballs.
7:58
Now, we're going to let these set up.
8:00
You can do it on your countertop
8:02
throughout the day. You can do it in
8:03
your refrigerator. That'll lessen the
8:05
time. Or you can even put these in the
8:06
freezer and let them set up even faster.
8:10
I'm going to come back. We're going to
8:11
set these all up, make them nice and
8:13
pretty for the holidays. Give it a try
8:15
for you. All right. What do y'all think?
8:18
These set up really well just on the
8:21
countertop. It didn't take very long at
8:23
all. Look at that. Y'all like my
8:26
snowballs?
8:29
I got somebody here who's going to help
8:30
me give these a try for you.
8:33
Heck yeah.
8:35
Here he is, you guys.
8:37
Hey,
8:38
got Thomas in the kitchen.
8:40
Yep.
8:41
He's gonna try one of these snowballs.
8:44
They're actually the Rice Krispy peanut
8:46
butter Reesei peanut butter cup
8:49
snowball. Look at these things.
8:52
They look
8:53
Aren't those cool?
8:55
All right, which one you going to try?
8:57
Got this one right over here.
8:58
He helped make these.
9:00
I did.
9:00
Behind the scenes. He was rolling these
9:03
Rice Krispie treats around the little
9:05
Reesei peanut butter cups.
9:07
And I didn't eat any. That's why I get
9:10
to have this one.
9:13
I didn't I didn't I didn't
9:17
He didn't eat one of these, but he did
9:19
eat some out of the pot.
9:24
I'm telling on them.
9:25
These are good.
9:26
Show the out. Show out. Oh, look at
9:28
that. You guys,
9:35
these are really good. Y'all can knock
9:37
out that plate sitting in front of the
9:41
TV. All
9:42
right, I'm gonna come show y'all.
9:47
Yeah. See that inside that Reesei peanut
9:50
butter cup? Oh, yeah.
10:00
I've had enough snacks today.
10:03
Yeah. You want to talk about somebody
10:05
eating?
10:06
What?
10:08
She's over there. Oh, look at that. I
10:10
made a mess. Oh, look at it.
10:12
Yeah,
10:17
today was a big day for us.
10:22
There we go.
10:23
Didn't help I had to make M&M cookies,
10:25
too.
10:29
All right, you guys give us a thumbs up
10:31
on this one. Merry Christmas to
10:33
everybody. Thomas and I have a show at
10:36
the end of the year for you guys. It's
10:38
coming up in less than a week. We're
10:40
super excited about it. We want to
10:42
answer all your questions that we've
10:43
been getting in the comments. We've
10:44
tried to save them so that we can just
10:46
put a big show out. Let you know what
10:49
happened this year, what's going to
10:50
happen next year, what's going on with
10:52
him and his rational viewer that he
10:54
brought back from the
10:57
video graveyard. Ow.
10:59
He brought it back. So, we're going to
11:01
talk about that and see how much fun we
11:03
can have in the new year. All right, you
11:05
guys. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year.
11:07
And we'll see y'all on the next video.
11:10
Bye.
