Beefaroni (One Skillet Meal)

A Ground Beef & Pasta Skillet Meal prepared in less than 30 minutes.

Equipment

  • large deep skillet
  • cutting board & sharp knife
  • measuring spoons & cups
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced `
  • 2 (10.5 oz) cans tomato soup (or tomato sauce)
  • 1 (10.5 oz) beef broth
  • 10.5 oz water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1 TBS white granulated sugar
  • 8-10 oz uncooked ziti pasta (or other small pasta)
  • 2 TBS parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium high heat, break up and brown ground beef. At the same time add the diced onion and cook until softened. Drain excess grease from pan.
    NOTE: You can also use a Dutch oven or a large pot.
  • Season cooked beef & onion with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, chili powder and sugar. Stir in the tomato soups, beef broth, and water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
    NOTE: Check for seasonings at this time and add for desired taste.
  • Stir in pasta and lower heat to medium high. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes until pasta is tender and sauce has thickened.
    NOTE: stir every few minutes to keep pasta from sticking to bottom of skillet.
  • Turn off burner and stir in cheese and parsley.
