Cinnamon Rolls using Puff Pastry

Author Catherine's Plates

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed

Filling

  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1-2 TBS gound cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Icing

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 TBS milk or heavy cream

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray muffin tin with a cooking spray.
  • Place one sheet of pastry dough onto parchment paper. Using a rolling pin and a light sprinkling of flour, roll out dough into a thin rectangle.
  • In a small bowl, mix the filling ingredients (buttur, cinnamon, brown sugar) well until it makes a thin paste.
  • Spread filling paste unto pastry dough evenly as possible leaving a small border.
  • Carefully, using the bottom long edge of parchment paper, start rolling pastry towards front long edge of pastry. Should look like a tube.
  • This pastry is very delicate, place in freezer for about 10 minutes.
  • Cut into 1/4 inch slices and place into prepared muffin tin.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until pastry is golden and puffy.
  • Remove from muffin tin right away using a fork.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the icing ingredients (powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk). At this point check to see if you need to add more powdered sugar or more milk, depending on if the icing is too thin or too thick.
  • Drizzle icing over cinnamon rolls. Enjoy.
