Cola Barbecue Chicken in Slow Cooker

This Crockpot recipe is so delicious, shred it up and place on a bun for a flavorful sandwich or pair with favorite sides. It's a slow cooker winner at my house.

Equipment

  • 6 quart crockpot/slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 2 medium yellow onions, chopped
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (3 lbs)
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • 12 oz Coca-Cola or other flavor cola
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 TBS corn starch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Spray a 6 quart crockpot/slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Chop onions and place in bottom of crockpot.
  • Sprinkle Everything Bagel seasoning on the tops of chicken breasts. Place chicken breasts upside down on top of onion in crockpot. Sprinkle more everything Bagel seasoning on the tops of chicken.
  • Pour coca-cola along sides and in between chicken. Pour barbecue sauce over chicken. Sprinkle with black pepper.
  • Place lid on crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6-7 hours until chicken is fork tender and done.
  • Thicken sauce with corn starch and water slurry.
  • Serve along side favorite barbecue sides or shred and serve on a bun along side favorite barbecue sides.
