In a shallow dish whisk together flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
In a large skillet over medium high heat melt butter into cooking oil and allow to heat to a sizzle.
Dredge 1 cube steak in seasoned on one side, turn over and dredge other side. Shake off excess flour and place in hot skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes until golden brown on one side. Turn steak over and sear an additional 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove seared steak and place on a plate. Finish searing rest of the cube steaks.NOTE: add more more oil or butter if needed. Prepare vegetables (bell pepper, carrots, onion, and celery). Spray a 6 quart crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Place 1/2 of the prepared vegetables into crockpot mixing them up.
Place seared cube steaks on top of the vegetables in crockpot in a single layer, if possible. Place remaining (other 1/2) vegetables on top of cube steaks.
To prepare gravy, in a large mixing bowl whisk together 4 cups of beef broth, cream of soup, gravy packet, onion soup mix, and black pepper.
Pour gravy mixture over the vegetables and cube steak in the slow cooker/crockpot.
Place lid on slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-7 hours. Half way through cooking time add in the corn starch slurry and mix carefully. NOTE: corn starch slurry: whisk together 1/4 cup corn starch with 1/4 cup cool water.NOTE: cooking time will vary depending on how tender you want your steaks. The steaks & vegetables should be fork tender. Best served over cooked rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta. Enjoy.
