Equipment

  • one large deep skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 TBS cooking oil
  • 1 (5pk) Italian uncooked sausages
  • 1 TBS butter
  • 4 bell peppers cut into strips (use many colors, if you can)
  • 2 medium onions, cut into strips
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced fine
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1 TBS Italian seasoning
  • 1 (24oz) jar pasta sauce
  • 1/4 jar full of water

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium high heat start heating up cooking oil until hot.
  • Place Italian sausages into hot oil and brown on one side for 2-3 minutes. Turn over and brown an additional 2-3 minutes. Using tongs hold down the sides of sausages. Remove sausages to a plate and set a side. (We are not cooking the sausages all the way through at this time, just browning.)
  • In the same large skillet over medium high heat add butter and allow to melt and sizzle. Add in pepper strips and onion strips. Season with salt & black pepper. Cook until softened for 4-5 minutes. Add in garlic and cook an additional 1 minutes.
  • Stir in Italian seasoning, jar pasta sauce and 1/4 jar of water. Mix well and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Once sauce comes to a boil, add the browned sausages back into skillet and submerge into sauce. Place lid on skillet and cook for 20 minutes over low heat until sausages are cooked through and tender.
  • Serve in hoagie buns, over pasta, mashed potatoes or rice. Enjoy.

    Catherine,
Made this recipe tonight and this is so good and my hubby loved it. Told my friends on Facebook to check out your recipes on youtube. You make down to earth food that is easy and not to costly but I don’t mind spending money on a good meal. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible recipes.
