Welcome back everyone to Katherine's
0:01
Plates. Today I'm going to show you our
0:04
Christmas grocery haul. This does not
0:07
end the year. We still have some more
0:09
groceries to get for the end of the
0:11
year, but this will cover what Thomas
0:14
and I will need to get through
0:16
Christmas. And we're going to have
0:18
Christmas over here. It's one of a few
0:21
Christmases we're having at the end of
0:22
the year. So, one of them will be at the
0:24
house. And I'm going to show you what
0:26
we're going to do for that one. And then
0:27
we have another one over at my brother's
0:29
house. All right, we're going to go
0:31
ahead and get started. Now,
0:34
we want some French onion soup. I
0:36
haven't made it yet. I had to get
0:38
another baguette.
0:40
So, that's what that one's for. French
0:42
onion soup. We're excited for that one.
0:45
All right. Now, for our Christmas here,
0:48
I picked up some of the Sisters
0:50
Schubert's dinner rolls. These are yeast
0:54
dinner rolls. And I got two packages of
0:57
those
1:01
right here.
1:03
Yep.
1:04
All right. We're going to get these in
1:06
the freezer. We've got a lot of bags.
1:09
And this isn't all of them. All right.
1:11
So, we did pick up some English muffins
1:14
cuz Thomas and I like English muffins
1:16
with our eggs in the morning.
1:19
They got some festive bags, let me tell
1:21
you. It says, "Happy holidays and merry
1:23
Christmas."
1:25
We went to HB for this haul today.
1:29
And in here, I've got our butter ball
1:34
turkey. This is boneless turkey breast
1:36
roast. Now, I love cooking these in the
1:39
crock pot. I do have a video out there
1:42
called that, so you can go check it out
1:44
on my recipe blog,
1:45
katherine'splates.com,
1:48
cooking a turkey in a slow cooker. So,
1:51
I'm making that for Christmas also.
1:56
It's kind of frozen, so we got like four
1:58
days to get that unfrozen. It's fine.
2:02
Picked up some cucumbers because
2:05
I'm going to make a cucumber salad.
2:07
That's my mom's recipe. Um, this recipe
2:10
can also be found on my recipe blog,
2:12
katherine'splates.com.
2:14
Also, cucumber salad.
2:17
All right,
2:22
we tied some of these bags.
2:25
I got some diced onions.
2:30
We eat a lot of eggs now for breakfast.
2:31
And so instead of trying to dice up an
2:34
onion every time we want to have onions
2:36
in our eggs, we get the diced onion.
2:40
Got some celery cuz we need that for the
2:43
turkey because I find I love cooking up
2:46
the celery, carrots, and onions with the
2:49
turkey. Makes delicious
2:51
vegetables to go with your turkey.
2:54
All right, Thomas's favorite. Can't do
2:57
the holidays without it. Eggnog.
3:03
Should I make some eggnog cookies?
3:07
Yeah, I should. Huh?
3:09
He's got a lot of eggnog there. He'll go
3:11
through it all, too. All right. I got
3:14
some diced peppers. This is multicolor.
3:17
It's got the green in there also with
3:19
the red, the yellow, and orange. Pretty
3:24
colors there. That is for our Denver
3:26
eggs that we like in the morning. It's
3:28
kind of like a Denver omelette, but we
3:30
just scramble the eggs, add all that
3:32
some cheese on top.
3:34
We like that. All right. I got a a head
3:38
of broccoli because I'm going to make
3:41
roasted vegetables also to go with our
3:44
turkey and other things on Christmas.
3:48
And that's my bag of carrots to go with
3:52
the turkey.
3:55
All right, let's go to the next bags.
3:59
All right, I also picked up some
4:01
Ultimate Caesar salad kits.
4:08
I found out during the wedding that
4:10
everyone loves Caesar salad. So, I'm
4:13
going to be putting that together.
4:14
Really easy. Like, no sense in going to
4:17
too much trouble. Got enough to do like
4:21
roast these vegetables. I got a thing of
4:23
cauliflower.
4:26
Let's see what else we got.
4:29
Oh, yep. There's my squash. We got two
4:32
squash to go on it. I'm making a big pan
4:35
of all of these vegetables, so I didn't
4:36
really need a lot of vegetables,
4:39
and I want them. I love roasted
4:42
vegetables.
4:44
We got a thing of strawberries because I
4:46
love strawberries.
4:49
And we've got two dozen eggs
4:53
cuz you can't do Christmas or the
4:55
holidays without deiled eggs at my
4:57
house. So, I'll be making a whole thing
5:00
of deiled eggs for everybody. They'll go
5:02
quick. They did for Thanksgiving. Oh my
5:05
gosh. There was not one devild egg left.
5:08
All right, let's go on to the next bags.
5:12
Got 10 lbs of potatoes. These are
5:15
russeted potatoes. Thomas will make a
5:17
big pot of mashed potatoes. That's to go
5:20
with the meatballs
5:23
and the turkey. But yeah, and then the
5:25
rest we just use for baked potatoes.
5:31
And then we have two lbs of ground beef
5:34
because I'm going to be making two lbs
5:36
of meatballs.
5:41
Can't do the holidays without meatballs
5:43
either. There we go. This is grass-fed
5:48
ground beef 100%. This HB's variety
5:52
right here. We like the packs like that.
5:56
All right. Next we have Oh, I had to get
6:00
some mayonnaise for the devild eggs. I'm
6:03
going to be making two batches. I got to
6:04
make one for Christmas and one for my
6:06
brother's holiday over at his house for
6:08
Christmas. So, we need a lot of
6:10
mayonnaise. And then we got Thomas's
6:13
apples. Whole bag of them here. These
6:15
are the Envy apples. We love these.
6:19
These are really good. Those are for us.
6:24
And then in here we have oh Q-tips.
6:30
And we've got two packs of gravy.
6:34
They really like the gravy that I made
6:35
the last time. So we're going to do
6:36
that. And then I'm going to make the
6:39
turkey gravy, which I love that turkey
6:41
gravy. If you haven't seen that, that's
6:43
part of the recipe for that turkey in
6:45
the crock pot. And it doesn't use this.
6:51
All right, let's move on to the other
6:52
bags. All right, now in my original
6:55
recipe for the turkey in the crock pot,
6:58
I never put any broth in it, but the
7:01
next time that I did, I added broth to
7:03
it, and then oh my gosh, it made it so
7:05
tender even more, and it flavored it,
7:08
infused it with flavor all the way
7:10
through it. And I did the vegetable
7:13
broth. So, we're going to be doing that
7:15
again because I like that.
7:17
I got a bottle of cheese whiz or a jar
7:21
of cheese whiz because I'm going to make
7:24
y'all a Philly cheese steak casserole.
7:29
It's a bubble up casserole.
7:31
Yeah, I've made these so many times. So,
7:35
got to make it one more time. The kids
7:37
are moving and they got different places
7:39
they're going to and I want to give them
7:41
some casserles. So, this is one of them
7:44
right here. All right. And then we got
7:47
some zucchini here,
7:50
which will go with the squash and the
7:56
cauliflower and broccoli. And there's
7:59
going to be a red onion on there also
8:00
that I already had. And that's going to
8:03
be my roasted pan of vegetables. So
8:06
there's my zucchini right here.
8:10
And then over here we've got a package.
8:16
Now, this is all you need if you make
8:17
the soup that I'm going to make for the
8:19
French onion. This is Swiss and guer
8:22
cheese. It's only 6 ounces and that's
8:25
what you need. But if you want to put
8:27
more in your soup, you can do that also.
8:29
That's going to be on the top of the
8:30
baguettes and on top of the soup. All
8:33
right, we've got some sour cream. That
8:37
is for my meatballs. Um, I make the
8:40
Swedish style meatballs and sour cream
8:43
goes into them. Those meatballs went way
8:47
back. My mom made them for us when we
8:50
were very young and my dad loved them
8:53
during the holidays and I've made them
8:55
ever since. So, everybody loves them
8:58
during the holidays. So, they just come
8:59
out like a like an appetizer, but they
9:02
become a meal now. I needed some more
9:05
butter. the holidays. You just can't get
9:08
enough butter, can you? I got some
9:11
cottage cheese. That's just to have.
9:16
Plus, I've been craving lasagna. And I
9:19
might make that as the second casserole
9:21
for them and they can split them because
9:23
I got Rihanna moving one way and I got
9:26
Joseph and Megan moving another way. So,
9:28
want to kind of give them something to
9:30
have in the refrigerator while they're
9:32
moving.
9:34
Got some peanut butter. Thomas and I
9:37
still have another treat to make for you
9:38
guys before Christmas. That one's coming
9:40
out real soon, soon as we get this one
9:43
made. And it requires marshmallows also.
9:47
So, we'll be making that. And then I
9:49
have to make another round of fudge for
9:52
Christmas also because oh my gosh, that
9:55
rocky road fudge that I made, it just
9:58
went so fast and there wasn't enough.
10:00
So, I have to make more. All right, you
10:03
guys. What do you think of my Christmas
10:05
grocery haul? We're going to be making
10:07
meatballs, the crockot, turkey, mashed
10:11
potatoes, roasted vegetables. We've got
10:14
a cucumber salad. Got a Caesar salad
10:17
because everybody loves that. Some Rocky
10:20
Road fudge
10:23
rolls.
10:24
We've got the Sister Schubert's rolls.
10:27
I'm keeping them easy this year because
10:29
you just pop those in the oven for six
10:31
minutes and you've got a roll.
10:33
Why not keep it easy? All right. And
10:36
then Thomas and I have a
10:39
recipe coming up for you guys really
10:41
soon with the peanut butter and the
10:43
marshmallows and other good stuff. It's
10:45
a great holiday candy. And I am making a
10:49
French onion soup for you guys. I'm also
10:52
making the Philly cheese steak bubble up
10:56
casserole and a lasagna. I think that's
11:00
everything. So you guys, we want to wish
11:03
y'all a merry Christmas and a happy new
11:06
year, but we'll see you before the end
11:09
of the year for sure. All right, bye you
11:11
guys.
