Welcome back everyone. It is Sunday
0:02
morning. I am getting ready to cook in
0:04
my crock pot this morning so we can have
0:06
a delicious lunch. Now these are called
0:10
OMG
0:12
cube steaks in the crock pot. And the
0:16
OMG part comes from my husband when he
0:18
knows I'm going to make these because
0:20
he's excited. He doesn't get these very
0:23
often, but when he does, he's happy.
0:26
These are the cube steaks. Now, there's
0:29
four of them in this package. And the
0:31
cube steaks
0:33
were going to be cooked in the crock pot
0:35
here. I've got a four quart that I'm
0:37
going to be using. It's just a smaller
0:38
version since we're only going to be
0:39
doing four cube steaks. But that OMG
0:43
part comes from that gravy that Thomas
0:46
loves smothered over these cube steaks
0:50
and poured over the mashed potatoes that
0:52
we're going to be making.
0:54
Now, I'm going to laugh at this because
0:56
the mashed potatoes that we're going to
0:58
be making is a Bob Evans variety from
1:01
the refrigerated section of our store.
1:02
We're going to make it really easy today
1:04
since I'm going to be putting this
1:06
together. We're fixing to go out and we
1:09
are going to go get some herbs for our
1:11
garden. Get that going now that it's
1:14
springtime. And then we're gonna have
1:17
this for lunch. So, we're super excited.
1:19
All right, you guys. First thing I like
1:21
to do when I have cube steak is brown
1:24
them up. Give them a nice sear and lock
1:27
in some seasonings on them. And that's
1:30
going to be about like salt, pepper,
1:31
garlic powder, onion powder, some
1:34
paprika, and I believe that's it. All
1:37
right, you guys. Let's sear these up.
1:39
You can totally skip this step if you
1:41
want to, but I'm not going to because my
1:43
husband loves this step. I'm going to
1:45
put my skillet on a mediumigh heat.
1:49
We're going to add a little cooking oil
1:50
to it.
1:54
I'm going to use some avocado oil. Get
1:57
that nice and hot in there. That'll help
1:59
give the meat a nice sear. While the oil
2:02
is heating up, we're going to go ahead
2:04
and season the front side of our cube
2:06
steaks and get those ready to go in
2:08
because we'll place these seasoning side
2:11
down in the pan when that oil is hot and
2:14
then we will season the back side.
2:18
salt.
2:20
That'll make it a nice little crust.
2:23
Black pepper,
2:25
garlic powder, onion powder, and then
2:29
we've got some smoked paprika. Let's add
2:31
this to our pan. Now, remember,
2:34
seasoning side down.
2:38
You hear that? Now, leave it in the pan
2:41
just like it is.
2:44
Don't move it around
2:46
once you lay it down. We're going to
2:48
give it about four to five minutes on
2:50
one side and then we'll flip it over.
2:52
We're going to go ahead and season right
2:53
now and get that ready. While we're
2:55
seasoning that side, I'm going to season
2:57
the other two cuz we're going to do
2:58
these in two batches. Salt, pepper,
3:02
garlic powder, onion powder, and
3:06
paprika.
3:08
Now, I did season these.
3:11
When they're ready to flip over, they
3:12
should be able to be moved easily in
3:14
your pan and not stuck to it. Okay? You
3:16
want to make sure that that meat has
3:17
released from the pan. That means it has
3:20
a nice crust on the bottom side. Let me
3:22
show y'all here.
3:26
Look at that. Can you tell?
3:32
There we go. That's what Thomas looks
3:34
for right there. Nice and crusty,
3:38
crispy on the edges. So, we'll finish
3:40
these off and then finish the other two.
3:42
If you need to add more oil to your pan,
3:44
go ahead and do that, which I'm going to
3:46
do right over here. Kind of dry on this
3:48
side of the pan. Once they're done,
3:50
we're going to remove them from the pan.
3:52
Just place them on a plate. Look at
3:54
that. Why would you not want that as
3:56
your cube steak? I'm going to remove
3:59
these cuz they look beautiful.
4:02
And then we'll add the other two. Love,
4:05
love, love making Sunday lunch or Sunday
4:07
dinner. seasoning side down.
4:11
This will only take a couple hours in
4:13
the crock pot and it'll give you time to
4:14
do other things and then be all nice and
4:16
ready for lunch. Don't forget to season.
4:26
There we go.
4:29
Set these off to the side.
4:33
Let me get my grease cleaned up a little
4:35
bit. It does get greasy.
4:38
Now I'm going to spray the inside of my
4:40
crock pot. Some non-stick cooking spray.
4:42
Keep everything from sticking.
4:49
I'm going to rough chop one yellow
4:51
onion. I want to make a bed down at the
4:54
bottom of the crock pot for the cube
4:57
steaks to sit on.
5:00
So, we'll take off both ends, the outer
5:02
layer. Cut the onion in half. And then
5:06
we'll cut that in half.
5:08
And then we'll run our knife through
5:10
just to make some nice chops.
5:15
Just something for those cube steaks to
5:17
sit on.
5:19
And if you want to add some celery or
5:21
carrots to it, you can do that also.
5:25
All right, let's add this to the crock
5:26
pot.
5:29
Let's place the cube steaks on top of
5:31
the onion.
5:34
Just layer them on.
5:39
Don't toss this, you guys. It is flavor
5:42
town.
5:45
Another OMG.
5:47
All the seasonings. Yeah, we want those
5:50
in there. Let's put that sauce together.
5:52
I'm going to be using the same skillet
5:54
that I cooked the cube steaks in. We're
5:57
not going to turn it on or anything like
5:58
that. I'm just going to use this to mix
6:00
everything together so I don't have to
6:01
get out a big bowl and do that. So, to
6:05
the skillet, we're going to add in one
6:08
can of Rotel diced tomatoes and green
6:11
chilies. Now, you can do this or you can
6:14
add in one can of just plain diced
6:18
tomatoes if you don't want the heat that
6:20
comes in the Rotel. So, let's add that.
6:25
Let's add that in.
6:26
We're going to add in one can. We're
6:29
opening it up right here of cream of
6:32
soup. I'm going to be doing cream of
6:35
celery because I want that flavor in
6:36
there, but you can use cream of chicken,
6:39
cream of mushroom, whatever you want.
6:42
Now, to the can, I'm going to add in 8 o
6:46
of beef broth. And then just mix that in
6:48
really well to get all that excess cream
6:50
of soup out of there.
6:54
You can use chicken broth, water if you
6:57
want to do that, but this adds some
6:59
flavor to it.
7:02
Yeah. We're going to add one packet of
7:06
Liptin onion soup mix.
7:10
All these flavors. It's going to make a
7:12
nice rich gravy.
7:16
Pour that in.
7:19
And one packet of brown gravy mix. or
7:21
you can even use one pack of au mix.
7:25
This is a 87 oz packet. That's what's
7:29
going to make our gravy.
7:32
Get a spatula. Blend this all together
7:35
until it's all combined.
7:37
I'm telling you what, you will be
7:39
saying, "Oh my gosh, you're probably
7:41
saying it right now with how rich this
7:43
will be." I'm scraping the bottom of the
7:45
pan because it has all those little bits
7:47
and oil on there
7:50
and that's all flavor. Notice I did not
7:52
add any extra seasoning to this because
7:54
it's already in all the mixes that we
7:56
put in here. If y'all are excited about
7:58
this, make sure you put omg in the
8:01
comments.
8:03
There we go, y'all. It's all mixed up.
8:05
Let's pour this on top of our cube
8:07
steaks in the crock pot.
8:10
I'm going to give that a try for you.
8:15
Yeah, Thomas is going to be so excited.
8:24
Just smother it on in. Get all in there.
8:28
I'm just going to kind of push down on
8:29
the sides a little bit. Get that gravy
8:31
down on in there.
8:34
Sink it on in.
8:36
Place the lid on.
8:39
You can cook this on low for 6 to 8
8:41
hours or until the cube steaks are nice
8:44
and tender or you can cook this on high
8:47
between 3 to 4 hours. The cube steaks
8:51
are thin so it won't take as long as
8:53
like a roast. Okay, so it won't take
8:55
very long. We're going to come back.
8:57
Make sure these are nice and tender. I'm
8:59
going to serve these up with some Bob
9:02
Evans smashed potatoes and a side dish.
9:07
All right, you guys. I'll be back. I'm
9:09
going to plate these up. They are very
9:11
tender.
9:12
I'll pull these out at 4 hour mark on
9:15
high.
9:19
There's all four of them.
9:24
Time for that gravy. And what's nice is
9:27
we don't have to thicken it up with corn
9:29
starch or anything like that. It already
9:32
had that gravy packet in there.
9:39
All right, we've got the plate. Look at
9:40
that. The oh my gosh, the OMG cube steak
9:45
from the crock pot with that delicious
9:48
gravy for the mashed potatoes and on top
9:50
of that cube steak. And I've got some
9:53
broccoli that I cooked up with some
9:55
garlic, salt, pepper, and a little bit
9:57
of butter. Make it a full nice plate for
10:00
lunch or dinner. All right, the mashed
10:04
potatoes. As I told y'all, I use the Bob
10:06
Evans variety that you can get from your
10:08
grocery store. And all I did was cooked
10:10
it up with some milk, butter, salt,
10:13
pepper, and a little bit of garlic
10:15
powder also just to kind of flavor it
10:16
up. All right, look at all those
10:19
tomatoes. And there's little green
10:21
chilies in there, too. If you like that,
10:23
do the Rotel versus the regular
10:24
tomatoes. And we got the onions. Look
10:27
how nice those look. All right, this is
10:30
how tender it is. Almost like ground
10:32
beef. Y'all ready for that?
10:37
I'm going to smear that into the mashed
10:40
potatoes. A little bit of tomato right
10:42
there.
10:44
And I'm going to take a bite.
10:49
Mhm.
10:51
So tender.
10:54
You know what? I love that little heat
10:57
from the Rotel tomatoes.
11:00
Oh, that's good.
11:02
Gives it a little bite there. Those
11:03
mashed potatoes nice and creamy.
11:09
Mhm.
11:11
Wow, you guys.
11:14
What a delicious Sunday lunch, dinner,
11:18
or make this for a weekn night meal.
11:21
Everyone's sure going to love those. And
11:24
I just made four of them in my small
11:26
crock pot. I'll see you on the next
11:28
episode, you guys. Make sure you comment
