Hello everyone and welcome back. Today
0:02
we are going to start the Thanksgiving
0:05
season and we're going to gobble till we
0:08
wobble till the very last show of
0:10
Thanksgiving. Okay, we're going to start
0:12
with the Thanksgiving turkey in the
0:16
crock pot. Full of flavor, very juicy,
0:19
and I'm going to show you how to make a
0:21
delicious gravy like you've never seen
0:23
before using the drippings from the
0:26
turkey. Now, we're going to start with
0:29
our butterball boneless turkey breast
0:32
roast. Now, this is 3 lbs. I've pulled
0:36
it out of the refrigerator for about 30
0:37
minutes so it could just kind of sit out
0:39
and be easy to handle. Now, I'm going to
0:42
take it out of the packaging and we'll
0:44
go from there. Now, I did thaw out the
0:47
turkey breast for a few days in the
0:48
refrigerator. Go ahead, take it out of
0:51
its packaging. And what we want to do is
0:55
leave the netting on the turkey. That
0:58
way it holds its shape while it's
1:00
cooking. I'm gonna do this in my sink.
1:05
Okay, I have it out of the packaging. I
1:07
kind of dried it off with some paper
1:08
towels. Now, it comes with a gravy
1:10
packet here. Now, I'm going to be not
1:13
using that. I'm going to make my own
1:14
homemade gravy using the drippings from
1:18
the turkey in the crock pot. So, now
1:21
we're going to go ahead and get our
1:22
crock pot ready.
1:26
First thing we want to do is prepare a
1:28
crock pot. I'm going to spray it lightly
1:30
with some cooking spray. That'll keep
1:32
the turkey from sticking in there.
1:38
Now, we're going to make a little bed of
1:41
onion on the bottom. So, I'm just going
1:43
to take two medium onions, chop them up,
1:47
and we'll put them in the bottom of the
1:48
crock pot. And that'll serve as a place
1:52
for the turkey to sit,
1:55
not just sit on the bottom.
1:59
Super excited.
2:01
Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
2:04
Now, we're just going to rough chop
2:05
them. I don't want small dices. We want
2:09
rough chops.
2:11
Now, I've done a ham in the crock pot
2:13
for you guys. So, if you want to do a
2:15
ham, you can do that in the crock pot.
2:17
And I've done lots of side dishes in the
2:20
crock pot. Just kind of gives you lots
2:22
of ideas. Keeps your oven free, your
2:24
stove top free.
2:26
What's great is you can use this recipe
2:28
year round. Make your own turkey at home
2:31
for sandwiches, for recipes, and all of
2:35
that.
2:37
All right, let's place it into the
2:39
bottom of our crock pot.
2:48
Okay. Now, what we're going to do is
2:49
make the basting for the top of our
2:52
turkey so that it just drenches all over
2:54
it and just oh, makes it nice and
2:56
tender, juicy, and flavorful. So, we're
3:00
going to start off with one stick of
3:02
very soft butter. And I just put it into
3:05
a medium bowl here. And we're going to
3:06
flavor it up. We're going to start off
3:10
with about a/4 teaspoon or
3:14
about half a teaspoon of black pepper on
3:17
top of that butter. Boop.
3:20
And then we're going to add a whole
3:22
bunch of garlic powder,
3:31
maybe about a teaspoon. And then I am
3:34
going to chop up
3:37
some fresh thyme,
3:40
sage, and rosemary. About a tablespoon
3:45
each, and put it in there. Just chop it
3:48
up really fine. Now, with the rosemary,
3:50
I'm just going to take it at the stem
3:53
here and peel off all the leaves.
3:58
And then we'll chop that up. Oh, it
4:00
smells like the holidays. It's a great
4:02
way to start off my series. Now, if you
4:06
don't have the fresh, you can use the
4:09
dried. Let's wake up those flavors.
4:11
We're just going to cut through them a
4:12
little bit.
4:17
Put in some thyme. Just going to chop
4:19
them in there. Oh, yeah. That's smelling
4:22
good, good, good. And then I have some
4:26
sage. I'm just going to pull some leaves
4:28
off and we'll chop those up.
4:34
Oh.
4:36
All right, that looks good there. We're
4:38
going to mix that all up
4:41
and we're going to add that to the
4:42
butter.
4:50
We're going to go in with a lot of
4:51
smoked paprika or regular paprika,
4:54
whatever you have. This will help give
4:56
it a nice smoky flavor and give it a
5:00
nice color to it.
5:02
All right, let's mash this all together
5:04
and then see what we need.
5:10
All right, I'm going to add a little bit
5:11
more paprika
5:14
cuz that's going to be the color
5:17
of your turkey on the outside there.
5:20
Yeah.
5:23
Yeah, you guys.
5:26
All right,
5:29
that smells good. Now, I used salted
5:32
butter, so I did not add any salt to
5:35
this. I'm going to put my kitchen gloves
5:38
on and I'm going to rub the butter
5:40
mixture all over the turkey breast
5:43
roast. All right, be generous. That
5:45
means take all of it
5:48
and coat it very well
5:51
on all sides. Just massage it in.
5:55
We're leaving the netting on so that it
5:57
can hold its shape while it's cooking.
6:01
Slather it on there.
6:05
This is going to help make the gravy,
6:07
too. So, it's all flavor, all part of
6:09
it. All right. What we're going to do is
6:11
put it into the crock pot on top of the
6:13
onions. And you want to do it with the
6:16
fat side up.
6:18
Then we can all render into the turkey
6:22
there.
6:26
There.
6:27
Got a nice little home.
6:35
Just going to add a little more paprika
6:37
on top
6:39
for that color. Yeah.
6:43
We're going to place a lid on.
6:46
That's it, you guys. We're going to cook
6:48
this on low for about four to five
6:51
hours. If you need it speedy, then you
6:53
can put it on high maybe for 3 to four
6:55
hours. You want to make sure it's cooked
6:57
all the way through to the center of the
6:59
turkey breast and make sure it's nice
7:01
and tender. Now, yep. I am going to make
7:06
a delicious gravy for this turkey
7:09
breast. And we're going to serve it over
7:10
mashed potatoes and have some green
7:12
beans with it. That's to get our
7:14
Thanksgiving season off to a great start
7:17
so that we can gobble until we wobble.
7:20
Can y'all see that?
7:22
All right, I'll be back. Okay, so our
7:26
turkey breast is fully cooked through. I
7:30
did a thermometer check on it and it was
7:32
over 165°. It was in the 170s, which is
7:36
perfectly cooked. Now, what I did 30
7:39
minutes before this was done, I put in
7:42
some fresh green beans and let them cook
7:45
beside
7:46
the turkey. So, those are done. And
7:50
we've already got the mashed potatoes
7:52
going. So, what I'm going to do is
7:54
remove the turkey breast onto a platter.
7:57
And then I'm going to take off that
8:00
netting that is on the turkey that you
8:02
can see like right there. We'll take
8:03
that off, slice it up. I'm going to make
8:06
a delicious gravy using what's on the
8:09
bottom of the crock pot here. The juices
8:11
from the turkey there. It's got the
8:13
butter and all the herbs and the
8:15
seasonings in it. So, we'll do that.
8:20
Y'all look at how moist and delicious
8:23
this turkey looks.
8:26
I'm going to finish cutting this. We're
8:27
going to pour the gravy over it. I'm
8:30
going to give it a try for you. All
8:32
right. What we're going to do is place a
8:34
sieve into a medium pot. And I got
8:36
Thomas over here. He's going to pour all
8:38
of that liquid from our crock pot
8:40
through the sieve.
8:51
I'll just put these onions right here in
8:54
with the onions that are in the green
8:55
beans right here.
8:59
There we go.
9:01
We're going to put this on a high heat.
9:05
Now, what I'm going to do is add one cup
9:08
of chicken broth. Now, I'm not using
9:11
that turkey gravy that came with the
9:13
turkey breast. I'm making my own. Now,
9:16
I've got two packets.
9:18
I've got a ranch seasoning mix and I've
9:22
got a brown gravy mix. We're going to
9:24
add those in.
9:27
All right, that's the ranch. It's 1 oz.
9:30
And the brown gravy mix 87 oz. And this
9:34
has 33%
9:36
less sodium in it right there. All
9:39
right, we're going to get a whisk. We're
9:41
going to blend this together. And the
9:43
gravy mix. And that ranch will help
9:45
thicken up the gravy.
9:48
We want to get all the lumps and bumps
9:50
out of the gravy mix.
9:52
Y'all got to get Thomas out of the
9:53
turkey over there.
9:55
Oh, sorry.
9:58
We've tasted it. It is so delicious.
10:03
It'll make the best turkey sandwich.
10:06
Yes, it will.
10:08
All right. Once you get a boil going on
10:10
and you've cooked it for about 30
10:11
seconds to an extra minute, see how it's
10:14
thickening up? We're going to turn it
10:16
off.
10:18
And you know it's the holidays when you
10:20
bring out a gravy boat. Let's fill it
10:22
up. Let's pour it over the turkey. Let's
10:26
bring on the gravy. Woo! Look at that.
10:33
And then we have plenty
10:35
for our mashed potatoes.
10:37
Just a pop of color with some fresh
10:39
parsley.
10:42
All right, you guys. There is my crockot
10:45
or slow cooker turkey breast for
10:48
Thanksgiving.
10:50
I cooked the beans in there, pulled them
10:53
out with the onions, made the gravy with
10:55
the turkey drippings and that ranch
10:58
packet with the brown gravy mix. And
11:00
then Thomas, you know, Thomas made these
11:03
homemade mashed potatoes using
11:07
the potatoes I grew.
11:10
He did not grow these.
11:11
Just kidding.
11:12
These are honey gold bite-sized
11:15
potatoes. We left the skins on. Yeah,
11:19
there we go, you guys. Happy
11:21
Thanksgiving. I'm going to grab a plate.
11:23
Give that turkey a try for you. Though,
11:26
you know, we already did, but
11:29
Okay, we're going to gobble till we
11:31
wobble. The first show of our
11:33
Thanksgiving season.
11:36
Oh, look how tender that was.
11:40
Don't forget that gravy.
11:46
Wow.
11:49
That is delicious. Now, if you want to
11:52
crisp the skin of the turkey, like if it
11:55
came out of the oven, put it in the
11:57
oven. Right after you take it out of the
12:00
crock pot, you can line a sheet pan and
12:02
just place it on there. Pop it in your
12:03
oven on high heat for a few minutes
12:05
until you get that crisp desired texture
12:08
that you would looking for for your
12:09
turkey. All right, you guys. Don't
12:12
forget the beans. Oh.
12:15
Mhm.
12:18
Sauté them up in the crock pot with your
12:20
turkey
12:23
and that gravy.
12:25
That's something to write home about.
12:29
That's good. All right, you guys. Happy
12:32
Thanksgiving. Stay with us. We are going
12:34
to be doing lots of Thanksgiving food
12:37
items coming your way. So, we'll see you
12:40
on the next episode. Bye.
