It's dinner time and today I am going to
0:02
show you how to make chuck wagon ground
0:05
beef and pasta. This is a 30-minute
0:09
skillet meal. It's going to have the
0:11
flavors of a barbecue and a sloppy Joe
0:15
together. We're going to get started.
0:18
We've got a deep skillet here.
0:21
And then we're going to chop up a pepper
0:25
and a yellow onion. Now, the first thing
0:28
I like to do before I start cooking up
0:30
the peppers and onions is go ahead and
0:31
have the ground beef browning up in our
0:34
skillet. So, I'm going to put the
0:36
skillet over a medium-high heat.
0:41
And then we're going to add in 1 lb
0:47
Now, I'm using my local store HEB's
0:52
Now, because of how hearty this dish is,
0:55
you can definitely double up this recipe
0:58
and then use it for football day.
1:02
So, if y'all have got people coming over
1:03
and you're watching a game, make this,
1:06
double it up, and then
1:09
everybody will enjoy it. I'm breaking up
1:11
the ground beef with my meat chopper
1:13
here. Now, when I'm making a hearty
1:15
ground beef meal, I like to make sure
1:18
that the ground beef is in bigger pieces
1:22
Just kind of gives it that steak feel.
1:24
So, we're going to leave it like that
1:26
and we're going to come back to it every
1:29
Moving it around. I've got a green bell
1:31
pepper. We're going to be bulking the
1:33
dish up with that and some onion. It'll
1:38
Definitely give it a nice color. So, I'm
1:40
going to cut around this bell pepper
1:42
here. I've been working out in my garden
1:44
trying to get my seedlings growing.
1:46
And one of the things that are out
1:48
bell peppers. Let's cut some strips,
1:53
This is a hearty dish.
1:56
Now, if you want to use different
1:57
colors, you can do that also. Sometimes
2:00
I like to add one side of every color of
2:05
So, you'd have a yellow, red, orange,
2:09
Now, once you've got the strips, just
2:10
turn your peppers around, and then just
2:18
Tuck your fingers in.
2:25
Now, if that a yellow onion, and then
2:26
we've got a green onion. And this is
2:28
going to be used at the end for more of
2:30
a garnish. We're going to take off the
2:32
outer layer and the two ends.
2:37
Cut your onion in half.
2:40
And then we're going to make some
2:43
And then we'll just cut through the
2:48
Love this dish, chuck wagon.
2:51
It's kind of a cowboy style dish.
2:59
All right, let's check our ground beef.
3:04
Now, it's about halfway done. So, what
3:06
I'm going to do is clean this off. We're
3:10
done with the meat chopper.
3:13
And then we're going to add in the bell
3:25
Now, we're going to mix in the peppers
3:26
and the onions, and then we're going to
3:28
cook everything until the ground beef is
3:30
nice and brown and no longer pink. And
3:33
the peppers and onions have softened and
3:35
down. You want to make sure that you're
3:37
in a very large, deep skillet, or even a
3:40
Dutch oven, cuz we are going to be
3:42
cooking the pasta and the sauce in here
3:45
And you want room for that. While we
3:50
we're going to go ahead and season it,
3:51
so lock in some flavor into that ground
3:58
And then some black pepper. About a
3:59
quarter teaspoon of each, just to get
4:01
the flavor profile going here. We'll get
4:04
some more going as we build this up.
4:12
Now, you see the big pieces of meat in
4:14
there? That's good. That's what you
4:19
Once everything is cooked, we're going
4:20
to push the meat aside. We're going to
4:21
drain out any excess grease. So, just
4:24
take some paper towels.
4:26
You're just going to fold them, fit them
4:29
And then use your wooden spoon or your
4:31
spatula and just push it into the meat
4:32
and the peppers and onions. We're going
4:34
to start adding our liquid. We're going
4:36
to start with 1 and 1/2 cups of beef
4:43
That's one and then a half. The beef
4:45
broth will give it a nice beefy flavor.
4:51
We're going to add in
4:53
half a cup of ketchup.
4:57
Now, we're going to add in a quarter cup
5:02
Now, at this point, just take a spoon,
5:05
give it a taste, make sure your flavors
5:07
are where you want them.
5:13
You know what that tastes like?
5:15
Woo. A hearty sloppy Joe. We're very
5:19
close to that. That's crazy how good
5:22
While we're waiting for our mixture to
5:24
come to a boil, check out this.
5:28
This is what we're using right here.
5:32
Let me bring it over to you. There we
5:34
Now, this is um by De Cecco, and this is
5:37
a Rotelle number 54, and these are wagon
5:40
wheels. Can y'all see those in there?
5:42
That's what we're going to be using for
5:43
this recipe. Now, it's not to say that
5:46
if you can't find these or if you don't
5:48
have these and you want to use what you
5:49
have in your pantry, you can certainly
5:51
use any type of pasta for this dish. And
5:55
this recipe only calls for 1 cup. Okay,
5:58
look at these little things.
6:02
Are those are the coolest little things?
6:04
The little wagon wheels. All right, make
6:06
sure you add 1 cup of these into your
6:08
mixture. And what you want to do is make
6:11
sure that they're all covered.
6:13
And then we're going to lower the heat
6:19
We're going to place the lid on and
6:20
we're going to cook for 10 to 15 minutes
6:22
until the pasta is cooked through and
6:25
nice and tender. And then we're going to
6:29
Now what we're going to do is shred some
6:31
cheese. I'm using some Monterey Jack
6:33
cheese or you can use a cheddar cheese
6:35
or even a Colby Jack cheese. And then
6:37
we're going to get about half a cup. All
6:40
right, I've got three green onions that
6:42
I've washed off and taken off the ends.
6:45
And we're just going to slice them up.
6:51
All right, let's take a look.
6:58
Add the cheese on top and the green
7:11
We're going to place the lid back on.
7:12
We're going to finish cooking this for
7:14
the next few minutes.
7:18
There it is. Look at that. My chuck
7:21
wagon ground beef and pasta 30-minute
7:30
Okay, I can't wait for my first bite of
7:40
And all those flavors.
7:56
It definitely has a flavor of sloppy joe
8:09
Thumbs up on this one. Make sure you
8:11
comment down below and hype, share with
8:15
anyone you know would love to make this
8:17
30-minute skillet meal. I'll see y'all
