Welcome back everyone to Katherine's
0:02
Plates. I'm Katherine and today I am
0:04
going to be doing an air fryer show for
0:06
you, which means we've got several
0:09
recipes that I am going to make. They're
0:12
easy, they're fast, you don't have to
0:15
heat up your stove or your oven. In
0:17
fact, we're going to keep your kitchen
0:19
cool today. We're going to challenge you
0:22
on that. All right. Now, the first one
0:24
that we're going to make is a
0:27
irresistible hot dog melt. Now, these
0:31
recipes that I'm making can be made for
0:33
one person, two people, or more. And
0:37
I've been trying to do that for you guys
0:39
because I have a lot of single people,
0:41
or just couples, or you have a family.
0:45
But this is a great tool for that. Now,
0:48
I am using a double air fryer here.
0:56
This one is called a media and it's a
0:59
doublepurpose air fryer. It has the
1:02
basket
1:03
you can see right here. It's got the
1:05
pull out tray on the bottom
1:09
and then we have the below
1:13
racks down here where you can cook other
1:17
things on here. So, it has that rack
1:21
and it has a rack right here.
1:25
Great for like grilling steaks or pork
1:27
chops or anything like that in the air
1:29
fryer. And then it has a grease tray
1:32
right here. And what that does is just
1:35
catch anything that falls down below.
1:37
Now, what's great about this air fryer
1:40
is you can use the top and the bottom at
1:43
the same time. It has a dual heating
1:47
element on here. So, I can cook
1:49
something here and then I can cook
1:51
something here and use different
1:53
temperatures and different times. All
1:55
right, you guys. We're going to go ahead
1:56
and get started. We're going to go back
1:57
to that irresistible hot dog melt. I'm
2:01
going to be using the bottom rack on my
2:03
unit here. You can even use the top rack
2:05
if you want to. It is not a problem. So,
2:08
what I'm going to do is take some bread.
2:11
Now, I find that a hardy piece of bread
2:14
works really well for this. So, I'm
2:16
using a brios or you can use sourdough,
2:21
just some kind of heavy type of bread.
2:23
Not a very thin bread, but just
2:25
something to hold up.
2:28
[snorts] And we're going to do one.
2:32
Now, we're going to give the bread
2:35
a little bit of mayonnaise or you can
2:38
use butter, anything like that. So,
2:41
we're just going to slather the top of
2:42
it right there. Now, I'm doing the
2:45
mayonnaise because I love mayonnaise on
2:47
a hot dog.
2:49
I know some of y'all are going to come
2:50
at me and go, "What?"
2:52
I do. Now, what we're going to do is
2:55
take a hot dog out of the pack here.
2:58
Look at that. Yeah.
3:01
Now, we're going to cut the hot dog in
3:02
half lengthwise.
3:10
You don't have to cut it all the way
3:11
through.
3:13
We're just going to cut it like that.
3:14
And we're going to put it on the bread.
3:18
And then we're going to do one more hot
3:19
dog just the same way.
3:23
We're just going to slice it lengthwise.
3:27
Bring him with it.
3:30
And then we're just going to pop them on
3:31
like that. Now we're going to take a
3:34
piece of cheese, whatever you like. I'm
3:37
using a piece of proolone cheese. Use
3:40
cheddar cheese or American cheese. And
3:43
we're going to place it right on top.
3:45
Now, if you know the air fryer, if you
3:47
have loose things like this, it could
3:49
fly up into your vent and that'd be a
3:51
problem. I'm just going to take some
3:53
toothpicks and I'm just going to secure
3:54
the cheese onto the hot dog.
3:57
Just like that,
4:00
y'all. It's as simple as this right
4:02
here. Now, this is the top of the unit.
4:05
And it's got upper and it's got lower.
4:08
So, we're going to be doing the lower.
4:09
So, I'm going to push the lower and then
4:11
that comes up. And then you push this.
4:14
And then what I'm going to do is hit the
4:15
temperature. I'm going to put it at 375.
4:18
And then we're going to open up the
4:20
tray.
4:23
We're going to place this in.
4:29
We're going to close it. Then we're
4:32
going to hit the time. And I'm gonna
4:34
take this down to five minutes and then
4:36
we're gonna check it out.
4:41
All right, you guys. Look at that.
4:42
Irresistible hot dog melt. You can take
4:45
out the toothpicks.
4:48
Now, I put them in kind of an at an
4:49
angle so they wouldn't hit the heating
4:51
element in there. So, I moved them. Look
4:53
at that. Doesn't that look delicious?
4:56
We're not boiling water or doing
4:58
anything like that. Not heating up our
5:00
oven.
5:01
All right. All right, I'm going to take
5:02
a bite for you. Pair it with some potato
5:05
chips or you can even put in some tater
5:08
tots or French fries in the top one
5:10
there.
5:14
Here's my bite.
5:18
M.
5:27
That's very delicious. Woo. I love how
5:31
the hot dog
5:33
just kind of grills inside of that air
5:35
fryer and then the cheese on top and
5:39
then we got a nice toasty bread down
5:42
there. Yeah. All right, you guys. Let me
5:46
know what you think. Let's move on to
5:48
the second recipe. It involves apples.
5:51
If you're interested in my air fryer,
5:54
you can find it at
5:55
katherine'splates.com.
5:57
go to the tab that shows cookbooks and
6:00
store items and then you can scroll down
6:02
to the Amazon link and then you'll find
6:05
the air fryer there. The next thing
6:07
we're going to make
6:09
is some apple fries. Sounds delicious,
6:12
huh? It's got a cinnamon flavor to it.
6:14
It's perfect for fall time and a
6:16
delicious snack. Now, for the apple
6:19
fries, it just takes a little bit of
6:20
setup. We're going to be using a
6:22
dredging station here. I've got half a
6:24
cup of flour in one bowl.
6:28
And then in another bowl, we're going to
6:29
whisk up one egg and two tablespoons of
6:34
milk. And then in the third bowl, we're
6:36
going to have one cup of panko crumbs.
6:40
And then we'll mix in 2 tablebspoon of
6:43
sugar
6:47
and one teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
6:51
Now, I'm going to use the fork first
6:54
over here, and then I'll come over here
6:55
and mix the egg with the milk. Get that
6:59
all mixed in. Woo! That cinnamon smells
7:02
like fall. Love it.
7:07
Crack the egg in.
7:17
Two tablespoons of milk.
7:21
And we're going to blend that together.
7:24
You want it nice and frothy.
7:30
All right. We're going to take two
7:32
apples and I'm going to peel them. And
7:35
then we're going to cut four slabs off.
7:37
That means we're just going to cut down
7:38
the sides and take the core out.
7:42
I've already washed the apple. You can
7:44
peel the apple if you want to do that.
7:46
I'm going to leave the skin on.
7:49
That's one side,
7:52
two sides,
7:56
three,
7:58
and four.
8:00
And we'll give that to my husband since
8:02
he likes to nibble on the core part.
8:05
Let's cut these into strips.
8:10
And then cut the strips into fry shapes
8:14
like that. Right there.
8:18
I'm going to be using the basket portion
8:20
of the air fryer. And I'm just going to
8:23
spray the bottom rack there with it with
8:27
some non-stick cooking spray.
8:30
Make sure our apples don't stick in
8:32
there.
8:34
What I'm going to do is take some paper
8:36
towels. I did do two small apples and
8:41
these were the Envy apples. You can use
8:45
any apple you want. Granny Smith are
8:47
also a good one. They add a nice flavor.
8:50
So, I'm going to take a handful of
8:51
apples and I'm just going to kind of pat
8:53
them dry with some paper towels. Just
8:55
squish them around. Place them into the
8:58
flour.
9:00
Use some tongs. Lightly coat the flour
9:03
onto the apples
9:07
and then just kind of pick them up.
9:10
Shake them off.
9:14
And then we're going to put them into
9:15
the egg.
9:17
We'll do a little at a time till we get
9:20
them all done.
9:23
And then we're going to take our fork,
9:25
move the apples around until they're
9:28
coated with the egg.
9:32
All right. Then we're going to take them
9:33
out of the egg mixture.
9:35
We're going to place it into the panko
9:38
crumbs were flavored with the sugar and
9:41
the cinnamon.
9:43
And then we're going to lay them into
9:45
our basket.
9:51
Now, you want to make sure that these
9:52
are single layer.
9:55
All right. All right. Now, when you get
9:56
your layer of apples in there, you're
9:58
just going to take your cooking spray
9:59
again and just spray the tops of them.
10:02
It'll help them get them nice and golden
10:04
brown.
10:07
All right, we're going to place the
10:08
basket in
10:12
380
10:15
and we're going to take it down to 7
10:17
minutes and then we'll rotate it around,
10:19
which means we'll give it a good shake
10:20
and flip them around. There we go. Now,
10:23
while that's happening, I'm going to do
10:25
my other batch of apples there. And I'm
10:28
going to do it in the tray part here and
10:30
show you that you can use both bottom
10:33
and the top at the same time. So, let's
10:36
fill this one up.
10:39
All right. So, I'm going to open up the
10:40
bottom. We're going to place that in.
10:43
Oh, let me spray them first.
10:57
Now, on the top one, it says turn food.
11:00
You can take it out. Just give it a
11:02
little shake. Little shake, shake, shake
11:05
in there.
11:09
And then it'll start again. And we still
11:11
got four more minutes on that one. So
11:13
now on the lower one,
11:16
I'm going to take that one
11:21
down to 7 minutes
11:24
and then I'm going to do the temperature
11:26
to 380 and then we'll hit start on that
11:28
one. Now the top will be done around
11:31
three, the bottom will be done around
11:33
seven. But we'll give them a shake and
11:35
depending on how tender you want your
11:36
apples as to when they'll be done. All
11:39
right. Now, depending on how crisp or
11:41
soft you want your apples is when
11:44
they're ready.
11:46
Look at that
11:51
caramel sauce.
11:54
Yeah, you thought I was going to leave
11:56
y'all hanging.
11:58
Let's put the rest of them from the tray
12:00
down here.
12:02
All right. Look at that for a nice snack
12:04
or treat.
12:08
Apple fries.
12:10
my husband's favorite meatloaf in the
12:12
air fryer. Let's put it together.
12:16
In a medium bowl, I have one pound of
12:19
ground beef. We're going to add half a
12:21
cup of some panko or bread crumbs,
12:27
1/4 cup of diced onion,
12:34
2 teaspoon minced garlic,
12:41
1/4 cup
12:44
milk.
12:45
I'm just going to kind of pour it over
12:47
the breadrumbs.
12:49
One egg.
12:54
Two tablespoons of ketchup.
12:59
I call it a drizzle. Wooers sauce right
13:02
across the top. Salt. About a/4 of a
13:06
teaspoon. Black pepper.
13:09
More than a quarter of a teaspoon.
13:10
Whatever you like. And I love the
13:12
smokiness of smoked paprika.
13:17
gives it a good flavor.
13:20
Let's blend this all together
13:24
until well combined.
13:28
All right, let's get our air fryer
13:29
basket.
13:31
Now, the intent is to form your meatloaf
13:37
into the dish here
13:39
as much as we can, nice and firm, so it
13:43
holds its shape.
13:47
Y'all see that? Here we go. And then
13:50
we're going to pick up the whole thing
13:52
and we're going to place it into the
13:54
basket
13:58
and form it like a meatloaf. We're just
14:01
free forming it. [laughter]
14:04
Make sure it's even from one end all the
14:06
way to the other side.
14:09
Now, what we're going to do is spritz
14:11
the top of the meatloaf,
14:15
a little bit of cooking oil, and then
14:18
we're going to pop it in the air fryer.
14:23
I've got my air fryer on a 400°, and
14:26
we're going to air fry the meatloaf for
14:28
about 15 to 20 minutes. Now, we want our
14:32
temperature to be around 160° because
14:34
we're going to pull the meatloaf out.
14:36
We're going to glaze it, and then we got
14:38
to put it back in the oven for about 10
14:40
minutes or so until we get to that 165°
14:45
temperature. You do want that for a
14:46
meatloaf. I'll be back, you guys.
14:50
Here's the meatloaf, you guys. Look at
14:52
that. All right. When I pulled the
14:54
meatloaf out, I made the glaze, which
14:57
was a/4 cup of ketchup, one teaspoon of
15:01
mustard, and two tablespoons of brown
15:03
sugar that I just whipped up together,
15:05
and then spread across the meatloaf. Put
15:07
it back in the air fryer for another 10
15:09
minutes until that internal temperature
15:12
went to 165. Now, that was in the the
15:16
top in the basket. And then on the
15:18
bottom on our pan here, we put some
15:20
tater tots. Got those going. And then I
15:23
had just cooked up some broccoli. It was
15:26
a bird's eyee broccoli that you can cook
15:29
in the microwave. So there we go. A
15:32
whole full-blown meal without heating up
15:34
your kitchen. Can't have an air fryer
15:36
and not be able to cook bacon.
15:41
Keep your oven nice and cool. And then
15:44
just put them into the air fryer. Now,
15:46
I'm using the tray that comes on the
15:48
bottom down here, but you can certainly
15:52
cook your bacon in the basket also. Not
15:56
a problem. So, I'm going to open up the
15:58
bacon and I'm going to show you how
15:59
we're going to lay them on here to get
16:02
the maximum amount of bacon on the tray.
16:11
There we go. I'm going to have my dog
16:13
running in here in just a minute, I'm
16:15
sure.
16:17
So, we're going to take a piece of bacon
16:19
and then what we're going to do is
16:20
twist, twist, twist, and keep twisting.
16:29
And then I'm going to lay it on the
16:31
short end of the pan.
16:35
Just like that.
16:38
Now, the twist
16:40
bacon. That's a fun way to do bacon.
16:43
So, make sure you just twist it enough
16:47
and place it on your pan. Now, I am
16:49
using the riged pan for the bottom rack
16:53
there. Or you can use the basket and
16:55
just make sure that the tray is in the
16:57
basket to do that with. All right, I'm
16:59
going to finish these up. I like my
17:01
bacon very crisp and golden.
17:07
How do y'all like it?
17:15
And I'm going to do one more. It's just
17:18
Thomas and I. And we can use the extra.
17:20
We made some egg salad yesterday. We got
17:22
leftover egg salad. So, we can add some
17:24
bacon to it. Yeah.
17:28
There we go.
17:32
Right in it goes.
17:36
Now, we're going to air fry this at 350°
17:40
for about 13 to 15 minutes until you get
17:42
to that desired crispness of your bacon
17:46
and the golden brown color of it. There
17:48
we go. Now, I took them out. I placed
17:50
them on a paper towel to drain any
17:52
excess grease off of the bacon. Look at
17:55
these.
18:00
All right, I'm going to give that a try
18:02
for you.
18:10
crispy,
18:13
flavorful,
18:17
very delicious. You know, bacon is
18:23
There you go, you guys. You can. All
18:26
right, everyone. Thank you so much for
18:28
watching my air fryer show today. If
18:30
y'all have awesome recipes for the air
18:32
fryer, let us know down below in the
18:34
comments. Don't forget to give me a
18:36
thumbs up, share, and hype this video so
18:40
it can just really get out there. All
18:42
right, you guys. I will be doing a
18:44
another air fryer show part two, and
18:47
that'll be coming up in the next couple
18:48
of weeks. All right, you guys. I'll see
18:50
y'all on the next episode. Bye. See you.
