This is definitely my go to for birthday cakes.  I keep it real simple, easy, and delicious.

Tres Leches (3 Milk) Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 white cake mix
  • 1 12 oz can evaporated milk divided
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs large
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 8 oz tub cool whip
  • Vanilla Extract to taste
  • strawberries to decorate

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 13x9 baking dish with a cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix the package of cake mix, 1 cup of evaporated milk, oil & eggs using an electric hand mixer for 2 minutes on a low setting. (Do not follow the directions on back of cake mix box. Follow these instructions.)
  • Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick can be inserted into center of cake and come out clean.
  • Let cool completely.
  • In a large measuring cup, mix the remaining evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, milk, and heavy cream with a whisk..
  • Take a skewer, chop stick or use fork tines, to poke plenty of holes all over the cake.
  • Pour the milk mixture slowly over the holes of the cake.
  • Place cool whip (thawed) in a medium bowl and mix in a splash of vanilla.
  • Spread onto cake.
  • Decorate cake with strawberries.
  • Serve and Enjoy. (Store cake in refrigerator)
