Apple Ring Fritters
Author: Catherine's Plates
- 4 apples (I used honey crisp)
- 1 TBS lemon juice
- 1 bowl Water
- 2 cups vegetable oil
Batter
- 1 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 TBS white granulate sugar
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 Egg
- 1 TBS maple syrup or any favorite syrup
Topping
- 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon
Peel & core apples. Slice into 1/4 inch rings. Place into bowl of water with 1 TBS of lemon juice.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar and salt. Mix in milk and syrup.
Heat oil in a large pot or wok to 350 degrees on medium/medium high heat. Drop a little batter in. If it sizzles it's ready to go.
Take each apple slice and dip into batter to coat fully. Carefully place into heated oil. I can usually get 4 in at a time. Cook on each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel covered plate to absorb excess oil.
In a shallow bowl mix 1/2 cup sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Place in apple fritters in while still warm and cover with cinnamon sugar mixture.
