Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.
Mix in the vanilla extract.
In separate bowl mix the four and baking powder well.
Pour 1/3 of flour and 1/3 of milk into mixture alternating flour and milk until all mixed.
Put dollops of batter over apples and spread evenly to edges.
Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Rest cakes for at least 20 minutes.
Place a plate over pan and flip pan over onto plate.
Cake should pop out.
