Easy Chewy Banana Bread Blondies

Taking an old classic banana bread and putting a fun twist on it in the form of brownies. The texture of a brownie but the flavors of banana bread.

Equipment

  • large mixing bowl
  • masher tool or fork
  • measuring cups & spoons
  • sifter
  • spatula
  • 8 x 8 baking dish
  • non-stick cooking spray
  • wire rack

Ingredients

  • 3 medium very ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup melted butter slightly cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnut pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray non-stick cooking spray in an 8" x 8" baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl mash 3 medium bananas until smooth.
  • Stir in melted butter, brown sugar, egg & vanilla until just combined.
  • Sift flour, baking soda, and salt into the wet mixture in large bowl. Fold ingredients together carefully until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips & walnuts.
  • Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until edges are set and top is firm. Test with a toothpick in center. If it comes out clean it's done. If batter on toothpick bake a little longer.
  • Cool in baking dish for 10 minutes. Remove to a wire rack & cool completely before serving.
