  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1/2 TBS minced garlic
  • 3/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 TBS cooking oil
  • 1 TBS butter

Creamy Gravy

  • 3 TBS butter
  • 3 TBS all purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp yellow or dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt & black pepper, to taste
  • dried parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl combine ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, bread crumbs, milk, egg, salt & black pepper.
  • Using a 1 1/2 inch cookie scoop form round firm meatballs. Place on a parchment lined sheet pan until all are formed.
  • Heat 1 TBS butter and 1 TBS cooking oil in a large long skillet over medium high heat. Place meatballs in the hot skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes until golden brown on bottom. Turn meatballs over and cook an additional 4-5 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Stir around meatballs for another 5 minutes until meatballs are browned on all sides and cooked through.
NOTE: check the inside of one of the meatballs to check for doneness.
  • Remove cooked meatballs to a plate and set aside.
  • In the same skillet over medium heat, melt 3 TBS butter. Sprinkle in flour and whisk together with butter for 2 minutes. Slowly whisk in beef broth. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Stir in heavy whipping cream, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt & black pepper to taste.
  • Add in cooked meatballs and coat with gravy. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes until meatballs are tender.
Serve up with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
