Brown ground sausage in a large pot. Add onions and cook for 2 minutes. Add garlic and cook for additional minute.
Sprinkle flour over mixture and stir to combine.
Pour chicken broth in and stir. Bring to a boil.
Mean while, clean potatoes and cut lengthwise in half. Slice into 1/4 pieces.
Once soup is boiling add potatoes and cook for 20 minutes until potatoes are fork tender.
Reduce heat to low. Add seasonings to taste.
Stir in heavy cream & kale.
Cook an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
