Equipment

  • large skillet or pot

Ingredients

  • 1 TBS butter
  • 1 TBS cooking oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 TBS dried Italian Seasoning
  • 1 (24oz) jar of favorite marinara sauce + 1 jar of water
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 16 oz uncooked spaghetti or other type of pasta

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium high heat add butter, oil, onion, and bell pepper. Season with salt & pepper (1/8 tsp each). Cook until onion and peppers are softened.
  • Break up ground beef into onions and peppers and cook until ground beef is cooked through and no longer pink. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add in Italian seasoning, marinara sauce, 1 jar of water, and chicken broth. Stir and bring to a boil over high heat. Stir in uncooked pasta and cook for 5 minutes. Lower heat, place lid on and cook an additional 10 minutes or so until pasta is cooked through and tender. (NOTE: stir mixture a few times during cooking process to ensure pasta doesn't stick to bottom of skillet and you have enough liquid level.
  • Turn off burner and allow to rest for a few minutes. Enjoy.
