Air Fryer Chicken Wings
Delicious wings air fried with a special seasoning blend and covered in a mouth-watering sauce.
Equipment
- 6 quart air fryer
Ingredients
- 14-20 chicken wings or drumettes, thawed
- 1 TBS cooking oil (my favorite for air frying is avocado oil)
- 2 green onions, sliced (GARNISH)
Seasoning Blend
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3/4 tsp ground ceyenne pepper (you can lessen or add more as needed)
Chicken Wing Sauce
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite flavor)
- 2 TBS ketchup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1-2 tsp Frank's red hot sauce (use as much or as little as you need)
Instructions
- Place thawed chicken wings on a plate and pat both sides of wings dry. Coat all wings with cooking oil using a pastry brush.
- In a small bowl whisk together salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and ceyenne pepper. Sprinkle half of the seasoning blend over the tops of wings. Flip wings over and sprinkle the rest of the seasoning bend onto the back sides.NOTE: this amount of seasoning blend is perfect for 14-20 wings. If you are doing more wings you can double the seasoning blend.
- Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees for 2 minutes. Place wings into air fryer basket making sure to leave room between each wing and that there is only 1 layer. (You will be doing these in batches depending on how many wings you are preparing.)
- Place basket into preheated air fryer at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes is up, flip over the wings and cook an additional 8 minutes in air fryer. Wings should not be less than 165 degrees in temperature.
- Remove wings and place on a clean plate or serving platter to rest until other batches are done, if needed.
- During cooking process you can make the sauce. In a medium bowl add barbecue sauce, ketchup, honey, garlic powder, and hot sauce. Mix well to combine.
- Place cooked wings directly into sauce to coat on all sides, place back on serving plate. Sprinkle with sliced green onions if desired. Enjoy.
These look amazing! Flavors sound delicious!
