Apple Dapple Cake

Equipment

  • bundt pan
  • non-stick cooking spray
  • medium mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • sifter
  • large mixing bowl
  • measuring spoons & cups
  • spatula
  • cutting board & sharp knife
  • small sauce pan
  • skewer, toothpick or fork

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups fresh, peeled, cored, and diced apples
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Sweet Buttery Topping

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a large bundt pan with non-stick cooking spray very well.
  • In a medium bowl sift flour, salt, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
  • In a separate large mixing bowl whisk together oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients while whisking together.
  • Fold in nuts & diced apples until just combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared bundt pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour until toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean. Remove cake from oven.
  • In a small sauce pan melt butter, sugar, and milk over medium high heat. Stir for 3 minutes until sugar has melted into butter.
  • Poke holes through out cake using a skewer, toothpick or fork. Slowly pour the topping all over the hot cake in bundt pan.
  • Allow cake to cool before inverting cake onto a serving platter or cake dish.
    NOTE: run a knife along all of the edges and the tube of the bundt cake to help release cake
