My family loves my classic Shepherd’s Pie. Making homemade mashed potatoes, a delicious brown gravy and using your favorite vegetables becomes the most amazing dinner.
Classic Shepherd's Pie
Ingredients
- 4-5 russet potatoes, diced small & cooked in salted water; drain
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 3 TBS butter
- 2 TBS flour
- 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 12 oz frozen vegetables
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Place diced potatoes into salted water. Cook until tender. Drain and add favorite ingredients to make mashed potatoes. (I use milk, butter, salt, pepper, and grated cheese)
- Place 1 TBS of butter in large skillet on medium high. Add diced onion and sautee until softened. Add ground beef and brown.
- Add 2 TBS butter & 2 TBS flour to ground beef and stir for 2 minutes.
- Add 1 TBS worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt & pepper. Add beef broth and stir.
- Add vegetables and mix well. Turn off heat. Mixture should be thickened.
- Place mixture into bottom of 9x13 baking dish and smooth out. Place mashed potatoes on top and smooth out.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Enjoy.
