Creamy Italian Spaghetti & Ground Beef

This is an "all in one pot" meal using ground beef, Italian flavors, spaghetti, and a creamy white sauce. Truly delicious, it's hard to stop at one plate.

Equipment

  • large deep skillet or Dutch oven

Ingredients

  • 1 TBS cooking oil
  • 1 TBS butter
  • 1 bell pepper (any color), diced. I use many colors
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 2 TBS minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 TBS Italian seasoning
  • 1 (15oz) can diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 12-16 oz uncooked spaghetti, broken in half
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • parsley, to garnish

Instructions

  • Heat oil & butter in a large Dutch Oven over medium high heat. Add in diced peppers and onions. Season with a pinch (1/8 tsp) salt & black pepper. Saute 3-5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in garlic for 1 minute. Add in and break up ground beef and cook it until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  • Add in Italian seasoning, diced tomatoes, broth, and the broken spaghetti. Stir together over high heat til it comes to a simmer.
NOTE: taste the liquid for additional salt & black pepper, if needed.
  • Lower heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes.
NOTE: lift lid 2 times during cooking time and stir. Check liquid level also.
  • Stir in heavy whipping cream and place lid back on for 5 minutes or so until pasta is tender to your liking.
  • Stir in shredded cheese. Garnish with parsley and serve up.

  • Hi Catherine. I’m a fan of your cooking and I’m subscribed to your YouTube channel. This recipe looks delicious, I was wondering how it would be without meat. Or could I use mushrooms instead? Looking forward to making this.
