Crockpot white BBQ Sauce Chicken
A delicious take on a bbq chicken sandwich making this zesty and creamy bbq white sauce. Yum.
Equipment
- 6 qt crockpot/slow cooker
Ingredients
Cooking Chicken in Crockpot
- 4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 TBS butter, melted
- 2 TBS cooking oil
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
White Barbecue Sauce
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup milk
- 4 TBS apple cider vinegar
- 2 TBS lemon juice
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp mustard (I use dijon)
- 1 tsp paprika
Garnish & Buns to Serve with
- 2 green onions, sliced for garnish if desired
- hamburger or Brioche buns
Instructions
- Spray crockpot with a non-stick cooking spray. Place chicken in bottom of crockpot. Evenly place onion all over chicken.
- In a small bowl mix together melted butter, oil, paprika, garlic, salt & pepper from the "COOKING CHICKEN IN THE CROCKPOT" ingredient list. Spoon mixture all over onion and chicken. Pour chicken broth down sides of crockpot. Cover crockpot and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high 3-4 hours until chicken is cooked through and tender enough to shred.
- While chicken is cooking in crockpot make the white barbecue sauce.
- Whisk together all ingredients from the "WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE" portion of ingredient list. Cover and chill in refrigerator until chicken is done.
- In a large bowl shred chicken with all the juices from the crockpot. (This will keep the chicken nice and moist.) Pour in half of the white barbecue sauce and mix well.
- Popular with serving on a hamburger or brioche (our favorite). Drizzle with extra white barbecue sauce. Garnish with sliced green onions and cracked black pepper, if desired.
