My family loves this crust for pizza. The option for thin or thick crust, or even stuff crust calls for many variations of how to make a pizza with this crust. This recipe makes 3lbs of dough. (One pizza usually calls for 1lb of dough). Easily stored in your refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Easy Homemade Pizza Crust
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups warm water (should be temperature of 100 to 110 degrees for yeast activation)
- 1/4 cup sugar (white granulated)
- 3 tsp instant active yeast
- 1/4 cup oil (I use olive oil, it gives the pizza a great flavor)
- 6 cups flour I used 3 cups all purpose unbleached flour and 3 cups bread flour
- 2 tsp salt
Instructions
- In th bowl of your stand mixer, place warm water, sugar and yeast. Whisk together. Allow to sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add in oil and mix together using the stand mixer attachment. Add in salt and mix together.
- Start adding flour 2 cups at a time. (I scoop flour out and shake excess off until flour is even with top of measure cup. Do not pack flour.) Mix well. Add 2 more cups and mix well. Add final 2 cups and mix well.
- Place dough hook onto mixer and let it work dough for 5 minutes.
- Place 2 TBS oil into a large bowl and coat entire inside of bowl bottom and sides. Place dough into bowl and turn over dough to coat with oil. Place plastic wrap over bowl and seal. Let sit in microwave for one hour to rise. It should double in size.
- Take out of bowl and lay on a clean work surface that has been lightly dusted with flour. Cut dough into 3 pieces (each piece will yield 1 lb. of dough.)
- Start spreading out dough with hands and then you can use rolling pin to roll dough out thin if needed.
- Place on a greased pizza pan.
- Add favorite sauce, ingredients, and cheese. (See my recipe for my homemade easy & fast pizza sauce recipe here in my blog.)
- Bake at 450 degrees for at least 10 minutes or so until dough is golden brown and cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Enjoy.
Has anyone tried replacing the flour with gluten free flour?
