Author Catherine's Plates

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix I used the Party Rainbow Chip flavor
  • all ingredients needed on back of cake mix box
  • 1 (5.1) oz vanilla flavored pudding and pie filling I used the instant variety
  • 1 container of frosting I used the party rainbow chip flavor
  • extra sprinkles, if needed

Instructions

  • Bake the cake according to the instructions on back of cake mix box for a 9 x 13 size. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  • Poke holes throughout cake with the rounded end of a wooden spoon or other large utensil.
  • Make pudding according to package instructions. (Don't let it get to thick, to allow the pudding to pour into holes of cake.
  • Pour pudding over cake and spread evenly pushing pudding into holes. Smooth out remaining pudding.
  • Cover and refrigerate for one hour.
  • Place frosting container in microwave for 15 seconds, stir and heat an additional 10 seconds. (Make sure the lid and foil cover is off of container). It should be smoother than the pudding.
  • drizzle frosting all over pudding covered cake and using a spatula or offset spatula lightly smooth frosting over pudding.
  • Add additional sprinkles if you would like. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to help solidify cake, pudding, and frosting. Enjoy.
