

French Onion Dip Appetizer

Equipment
- large deep skillet
- measuring spoons & cups
- cutting board & sharp knife
- small bowl
- medium mixing bowl
- electric hand mixer with beaters
- spatula
- serving bowl
Ingredients
- 4 TBS butter
- 1/4 cup cooking oil (avocado, olive, canola or vegetable oil)
- 3 cups yellow onions, sliced thin
- 1/4-1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4-1/2 tsp black pepper or ceyenne pepper
- 4 oz block cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- potato chips or vegetable sticks
Instructions
- Melt butter together with cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it starts to sizzle.
- Place sliced onions into skillet. Season with salt & black pepper. Stir to combine and saute for 10 minutes.
- Cook an additional 5-10 minutes until caramelized and golden brown. Remove onions to a separate small bowl and allow to cool slightly.
- In a separate medium bowl cream together cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until well blended using an electric hand mixer.
- Fold cooled onions into cream cheese mixture until well combined using a spatula.
- Place French Onion Dip into a serving bowl and serve along side ruffled potato chips, pita chips, vegetable sticks, or your favorite.
- Store in an airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
