Fried Cabbage with Bacon & Onion

Equipment

  • cutting board & sharp knife
  • large deep skillet
  • measuring spoons
  • plate lined with paper towels
  • tongs & spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage. cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 medium yellow onion, cut into dices
  • 6-8 pcs thin bacon, cut into 1 " pieces
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 TBS butter
  • 1 TBS stone ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Place bacon pieces into large deep skillet and cook over medium heat until golden brown and crispy. Remove bacon to a plate lined with paper towels.
  • Add diced onion into skillet with bacon grease. Saute for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Stir in mustard, garlic, paprika, salt & pepper for 1 minute. Stir in butter until melted.
  • Add cabbage in batches stirring to coat using tongs. Once all cabbage has been added and is coated well with the onion mixture, stir every so often for 12-15 minutes until cabbage has wilted down and is buttery soft.
  • Crumble & stir in bacon to combine. Enjoy.
