Fried Cabbage with Bacon & Onion
Need a cabbage recipe for a side dish? This one is so buttery and fully of flavor.
Equipment
- cutting board & sharp knife
- large deep skillet
- measuring spoons
- plate lined with paper towels
- tongs & spatula
Ingredients
- 1 head green cabbage. cut into bite size pieces
- 1 medium yellow onion, cut into dices
- 6-8 pcs thin bacon, cut into 1 " pieces
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 2 TBS butter
- 1 TBS stone ground mustard
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Place bacon pieces into large deep skillet and cook over medium heat until golden brown and crispy. Remove bacon to a plate lined with paper towels.
- Add diced onion into skillet with bacon grease. Saute for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Stir in mustard, garlic, paprika, salt & pepper for 1 minute. Stir in butter until melted.
- Add cabbage in batches stirring to coat using tongs. Once all cabbage has been added and is coated well with the onion mixture, stir every so often for 12-15 minutes until cabbage has wilted down and is buttery soft.
- Crumble & stir in bacon to combine. Enjoy.
