Mongolian Ground Beef & Noodles

Equipment

  • large pot & strainer
  • deep skillet
  • measuring cups & spoons
  • small bowl & fork

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp minced ginger
  • 10 oz linguine pasta, uncooked
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 4 TBS hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (OPTIONAL)
  • 1 TBS corn starch
  • 2 TBS water
  • 3 green onions, sliced (GARNISH)

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add 2 tsp of salt & the uncooked linguine. Stir for 30 seconds and cook per instructions on back of package until tender. Drain.
  • In the meantime break up and brown up ground beef in large deep skillet over medium high heat. Drain any excess grease. Stir in garlic & ginger and cook for 1 minute.
  • To ground beef add in brown sugar, beef broth, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (opt.). Stir to combine for 1 minute.
  • In a small bowl combine corn starch and water with a fork. Pour into ground beef mixture. Sauce should be very thick. Turn off heat after 1 minute.
  • Stir in drained pasta until all sauce has coated the pasta. Let sit for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions. Enjoy.
