Nacho Cheese Fries Taco Bell Copycat Recipe
Equipment
- large deep sheet pan

Ingredients
- 1 (28oz) bag frozen skinny french fries
Taco Meat
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 TBS taco seasoning (or 1 packet taco seasoning from store)
Nacho Cheese Sauce
- 2 TBS butter
- 2 TBS all purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/8-1/4 tsp salt, to taste
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 20 slices kraft single cheese slices, remove wrappers
Toppings
- sour cream
- green onions
- pico de gallo, jalapenos, other favorite taco toppings
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a large deep sheet pan with parchment paper. Spread out frozen french fries evenly on pan. Bake for 12 minutes. Flip over fries, season with salt, and bake an additional 12 minutes or so until fries are golden & crispy.
Taco Meat
- While fries are cooking heat up a large skillet over medium high heat. Break up ground beef in skillet and add diced onion. Cook until ground beef is no longer pink and onion has softened. Drain excess grease from skillet.
- Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2 minutes, turn off heat, and set side.
Nacho Cheese Sauce Steps
- In a medium skillet over medium high heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour, chili powder, and salt for 1 minute.
- Whisk in milk and allow to come to a boil. Whisk in cheese slices one at a time. Continue to stir until all cheese has melted. Turn off heat.
Build Nachos
- Drizzle 1/2 of the cheese sauce over the crispy fries on the sheet pan. Top with 1/2 of the taco meat. Pour rest of cheese sauce over taco meat. Top with remaining taco meat.
Toppings
- Top with sliced green onions, sour cream, pico de gallo, jalapenos, or other favorite taco toppings.
