Old Fashioned Apple Crumble
A Perfect Scrumptious way to bake with your apples this Fall.
Equipment
- large bowl
- medium bowl
- 9 x 13 baking dish
Ingredients
- 6 medium apples, cored, and cut into wedges (I used honey crisp apples for this recipe)
- 2-3 TBS lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 TBS ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 TBS butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9 x 13 baking dish.
- Wash, core and cut into wedges 6 apples. Place wedges into a large bowl and add 2-3 TBS lemon juice and mix well to coat all apple wedges. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl whisk together flour and brown sugar. Add in melted butter, salt and pecans. Mix with a wooden spoon. Set side.
- Place apple wedges into the prepared 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover apples with sugar, cinnamon and ginger. Mix well and spread evenly in dish.
- Evenly distribute crumble mixture all over apples.
- Bake uncovered for 50 minutes until crumb mixture is browned and sauce is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and rest for 5 minutes. Serve with ice cream if desired. Enjoy.
