Welcome back everyone. I'm Katherine
0:02
with Katherine's Plates where it's
0:04
simply delicious. Today is dessert day,
0:07
snack day, whatever you want to call
0:09
this, but it's two things in one. We're
0:13
going to make a banana pudding rice
0:16
krispie treat. Let's hear the clapping.
0:22
Thomas is happy today. All right, you
0:25
guys. Let's just get started. We're
0:27
going to be using a 9 by13 baking dish.
0:31
We're going to take some butter and
0:33
we're just going to coat the bottom, the
0:34
sides, and the corners with it.
0:38
That way, these Rice Krispie treats will
0:40
pop right on out.
0:43
I don't care if they do or don't. I'm
0:46
eating them.
0:47
It's gonna be right in the pan here with
0:49
a fork.
0:51
Whatever you can get out of it. Huh.
0:54
All right. Now that we got that coated
0:56
with butter, let's melt four tablespoons
0:58
of butter. We are going to use the
1:01
largest pot that you can find.
1:04
It's kind of like a spaghetti pot or a
1:07
Dutch oven, which is what I'm using for
1:09
this recipe. We're going to put this on
1:11
a medium heat.
1:14
We're going to add in four tablespoon of
1:16
butter.
1:18
Don't forget, add a little sunshine to
1:21
your day.
1:24
Anybody ready for that? We've had rain
1:27
every day.
1:29
We want to make sure the butter is
1:31
totally melted.
1:34
You can use salted butter or non-salted
1:38
butter for this recipe.
1:41
Okay, we got a nice little sizzle going
1:43
down in there with our butter. It's nice
1:46
and melted. We're going to take one 10
1:48
oz package of marshmallows.
1:52
Now, these can be the mini marshmallows
1:54
or they can be the large marshmallows.
1:56
As long as you have 10 oz,
1:59
they'll melt better
2:02
if you use the mini marshmallows.
2:05
We're going to add those.
2:09
And then,
2:11
guess what we're going to do? We're
2:13
going to add in half a package. This is
2:17
a 3.4 4 oz size of banana cream instant
2:21
pudding and pie filling. So, you're
2:23
going to want to add half of that.
2:26
Sprinkle it on in.
2:33
We're going to mix this all together and
2:35
keep stirring it until those
2:37
marshmallows are nice and melted and
2:39
everything is combined.
2:45
Give me that box. Give me that box of
2:47
cookies.
2:48
I'm just kidding, y'all. He's in the
2:51
ingredient.
2:52
I'm going to show y'all that ingredient
2:53
here in a minute if there's any left.
2:57
All right, just
2:59
So, what you want to do is just take the
3:00
flat edge of your spatula and just keep
3:02
pushing down on the marshmallows.
3:07
Look at that. Nice and creamy,
3:11
all melted together. What we're going to
3:13
do now is pour in six cups of regular
3:16
Rice Krispies. Now, I'm going to measure
3:18
these out.
3:22
That's four cups. And then I'll do two
3:26
cups here.
3:28
We'll add these in. Yeah. Right there.
3:34
There we go. We're going to crush up
3:37
half a cup
3:40
villa wafers. Make sure you turn off
3:42
your burner. So, I'm going to put them
3:43
in my small food processor. Enough to
3:46
fill it.
3:48
So, we get half a cup.
3:52
We go.
3:59
There we go.
4:02
That's plenty right there.
4:05
We're going to add that in.
4:09
Yeah. Nice little trick there. Make a
4:11
delicious banana pudding rice krispie
4:14
treat. All right, let's get that all
4:16
stirred in until it's well combined.
4:22
Smells good.
4:26
Oh my gosh. Can you smell the banana in
4:28
there, dear?
4:28
Smell it all.
4:29
He can.
4:32
All right, we're going to get down on
4:34
the bottom. Dig, dig, dig.
4:40
That's our prepared pan.
4:44
Yes.
4:45
Yeah. Look who got that one, you guys.
4:48
He wasn't kidding.
4:50
All right. I'm just going to pull it out
4:51
of my pan. Put it into my baking dish.
4:53
Oh, man. That's good.
4:56
You want to be fast with this step
4:57
because it's going to start setting up
4:58
on you pretty quick.
5:00
Mhm.
5:04
There's still a few things we have to do
5:06
to this, you guys.
5:09
Guess who has to clean that out?
5:12
Oh, I'll clean it out.
5:14
I'm going to get a spoon and I'm going
5:16
to clean it out.
5:17
A chisel.
5:20
[Laughter]
5:22
That's funny.
5:24
All right, I think
5:27
what we got there.
5:30
Now, I'm using an offset spatula here,
5:32
and I'm just going to keep pressing
5:33
until I get it all nice and even and a
5:37
solid mass down here.
5:44
All right, let's move on to the next
5:45
step. Now, we got to make some toppings.
5:48
We've got some premium baking classic
5:51
white chips.
5:54
I'm going to put the whole bag into a
5:56
bowl. I'm using a microwave safe bowl
6:00
because that's how I'm going to melt my
6:01
chips.
6:04
Now, there is a double boiler method
6:06
that you can use if you want to do that.
6:07
The directions on the back of the
6:09
package along with how to cook these in
6:12
the microwave.
6:14
So, I'm going to follow those directions
6:17
and then I'll be back.
6:20
Okay, this was 50% power, 1 and 1/2
6:23
minutes. Make sure you bring a towel
6:26
with you to hold on to the bowl. We're
6:28
going to keep melting this till it's
6:31
nice and smooth. Take the back edge of
6:33
your spatula and just push on it into
6:36
the bowl.
6:38
If you need to put it back in after you
6:39
do this step here, put it in for another
6:42
30 seconds. And then another 30 seconds
6:45
and just keep stirring it.
6:48
You don't want to overcook your chips.
6:50
It'll seize up on you.
6:53
Just keep smashing it into the warm part
6:55
of your bowl there. And then it starts
6:57
start cooling down. And at that time it
7:00
should all melt. I didn't need the extra
7:02
time. I got a nice creamy smooth mixture
7:06
there. Whoop. You're over here. Okay.
7:10
There you go. All right. Let's bring our
7:13
Rice Krispie treats over. We're just
7:15
going to take our chip drizzle right
7:18
here and just drizzle it over
7:23
are rice krispie treats.
7:31
Thomas quit drooling.
7:32
No,
7:34
he is going. He's not drooling. Okay,
7:39
he is eyeballing it.
7:41
I'm looking at it, that's for sure.
7:44
Look at that.
7:48
Are you done yet?
7:49
Never.
7:51
I hope we have enough. We're going to
7:53
take some more Nilla wafer cookies.
7:56
We're going to put some in our processor
7:58
here.
8:01
Not very many. That should do it right
8:03
there.
8:06
We're going to put the lid on and we're
8:07
going to crush these up. Just put the
8:10
lid on. Now, if y'all like the utensils
8:12
and the kitchen gadgets that I use in my
8:14
kitchen, go check it out on my blog,
8:16
katherine'splates.com.
8:18
It's kitchen and cookbooks up at the
8:21
top. Store items. You can go in through
8:24
there through my Amazon link and
8:25
everything is there. All right, got my
8:27
lid on. I'm just going to push the
8:28
button.
8:34
Yeah, right there. All right, let's
8:35
sprinkle it on.
8:43
Now, you want to let this set up for 30
8:46
to 45 minutes. We're going to finish the
8:48
garnish on top and give it a try for
8:51
you.
8:54
All right, we're ready to go.
8:59
Take a banana,
9:05
[Laughter]
9:09
put it on top.
9:13
All right, you guys. That is our banana
9:15
pudding rice krispie treat.
9:17
I'm taking all this.
9:20
He's like, just that? I don't think so.
9:23
All right, you guys. I got Thomas over
9:26
here on the other side of the camera
9:28
to give it a try for you.
9:36
Oh man,
9:38
that's good.
9:41
That banana comes through. Yeah.
9:50
Wow. Gotta love the Nella wafers in
9:53
there. Wow. And that banana flavor.
9:57
That rice krispie treat.
9:58
It just pulls it all together.
10:00
That white chocolate.
10:02
Yeah.
10:04
Don't forget the white chocolate chips.
10:07
Mhm.
10:08
Kind of pulls it all together. All
10:08
right.
10:09
Go.
10:09
Thumbs up, you guys. What a cool idea
10:13
for summer to make for a treat or snack
10:16
or dessert for everyone.
10:19
All right,
10:21
we'll see y'all on the next episode.
10:23
Bye.
