A full dinner idea
Equipment
- large skillet
- cutting board & sharp knife
- 9 x 13 casserole dish
- measuring cups & measuring spoons
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1 (10.5oz) can french onion condensed soup, DIVIDED
- 1/4 tsp black pepper, DIVIDED
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 (10.5oz) can cream of celery or mushroom soup
- 1 pkt dry onion soup mix
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 3 TBS all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dry mustard powder
- 2 (14.5oz) cans whole green beans, drained
- 3-4 cups prepared mashed potatoes (I use Bob Evan's store bought, or you can make homemade mashed potatoes)
- 4 pats butter
- fresh parsley, GARNISH
Instructions
- If making your own homemade mashed potatoes, make them first.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a deep skillet over medium high heat, break up ground beef and add onion. Cook until ground beef is no longer pink and onions are softened. Drain any excess grease.
- To the cooked ground beef, add 1/2 can french onion condensed soup, 1/8 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp black pepper and 1/4 tsp garlic powder. Stir to combine for 1 minute. Turn off burner. Pour ground beef mixture into a deep 9 x 13 baking dish, smooth evenly, and set aside.
- In same skillet over medium high heat pour remainder 1/2 can of french onion condensed soup into skillet, add celery soup, beef broth, lipton onion soup mix, and flour. Whisk together for 1-2 minutes until well combined and flour has absorbed into liquid. Turn off burner.
- Add in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, and dry mustard. Whisk together until well combined. Taste to add any salt or black pepper. Pour gravy over the ground beef mixture in casserole dish and spread evenly.
- Evenly place cans of drained green beans over the gravy.
- Dollop prepared mashed potatoes over the green beans and smooth out.
- Place butter pats over mashed potatoes. Season top of potatoes with salt & pepper.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until mashed potatoes & green beans are heated through.
Preparing for Dinner. Looks and smells great. Thank you.
Can you freeze this.
Yes, freeze in individual portions.
Tasty and easy. Who could ask for more. Tripled the recipe. Especially like the Gravy. Going to try this gravy over your Honey Butter Cajun Pork Tenderloin. Thank you.
