Shepherd's Pie with a Twist

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 12 oz frozen vegetables I used corn, green beans, peas and carrots
  • 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 TBS flour
  • 2 TBS butter
  • 1 TBS oil
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 bag frozen tater crowns or tots, thawed
  • salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Heat oil in a skillet. Add ground beef and brown thoroughly. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same skillet melt butter. Add flour. Stir and cook for 2 minutes. Whisk in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth gradually. Cook foe 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • Add meat mixture back in. Add thawed vegetables and combine well.
  • Place in a 9x13 baking dish. Place tater crowns or tots on top of mixture in a layer.
  • Place in preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until taters are cooked through and crisp.
