Tater Tot “Big Mac” Casserole
A fun way to make a delicious ground beef casserole using ingredients that mimic a Big Mac.
Equipment
- large skillet
- cutting board & sharp knife
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced (DIVIDED)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 8 oz thousand island dressing (DIVIDED)
- 1 cup dill pickle, diced
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (or triple blend which I use)
- 32 oz bag frozen tater tots
- 1/2 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large skillet over medium high heat brown ground beef and cook onion until softened. Turn off heat. Drain excess grease.
- To ground beef add mayo, 4 oz thousand island dressing, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and diced pickle. Stir well to combine.
- Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle cheese over meat mixture evenly. Lay tater tots in a single layer to cover casserole.
- Place casserole in preheated oven for 40-45 minutes until tots are crisp and golden brown and cheese is melted.
- ToP with shredded lettuce, 1/4 diced onion, and remainder 4 oz thousand island dressing. Enjoy.
Delicious
Made this dish last night for our dinner. It was fantastic, so favorable . It truly did taste very close to a big ma. The thousand island dressing really makes it. It was a two helping dish for both of us. Thanks for posting. I make lots of your recipes. Thanks, John B
