Crockpot French Onion Cube Steak
Tender cube steaks slow cooked with a delicious French Onion gravy. Mouth watering dinner idea.

6 quart crockpot
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 TBS steak or hamburger seasoning
- 4-6 cube steaks
- 2 TBS butter
- 1 TBS cooking oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
French Onion Gravy
- 1 (10oz) can french onion soup
- 1 (10oz) can beef broth
- 1 (10oz) can cream of celery (or substitute cream of mushroom)
- parsley, as garnish
In a narrow dish whisk together flour and seasoning.
Heat butter and oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Dredge cube steaks into flour mix on both sides. Place into hot skillet and sear for 3 minutes on one side until browned. Flip over steaks and sear 3 additional minutes. Remove from pan onto a plate and set aside until all steaks are browned. (When cooking additional steaks, add more butter and oil in pan.) In hot skillet add in onions and stir until all coated with remaining butter and bits from pan. Turn off heat
Place browned onions on bottom of 6 quart crockpot. Place seared steaks onto onions.
In medium bowl whisk together all 3 soups (French onion, broth, and cream of soup). Pour soup mixture over steaks in crockpot.
Place lid on crockpot and cook for 6-8 hours on low or 4-6 hours on high until steaks are tender.
Plate steaks and gravy over cooked egg noodles, rice or potatoes. Garnish with parsley.
