Crockpot OMG! Cube Steak & Gravy

Equipment

  • 4-6 quart crockpot with lid
  • cutting board & sharp knife
  • large skillet
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • 4-6 cube steaks
  • 1/4 tsp salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika
  • 2 TBS cooking oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (10 oz) can rotel tomatoes or canned diced tomatoes for less heat
  • 1 (10 oz) can cream of soup (celery, mushroom or chicken)
  • 1 (10 oz) beef or chicken broth
  • 1 pkt Lipton onion soup mix
  • 1 ( .87oz) packet dry brown gravy mix

Instructions

  • Spray a crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Place chopped onion in bottom of prepared crockpot.
  • Season both sides of cube steaks with a sprinkling of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • Heat 2 TBS cooking oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • Place 2 seasoned cube steaks into hot skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown on bottom of cube steak. Turn cube steaks over and sear another 3-4 minutes.
  • Place seared cube steaks into crockpot on top of the chopped onion. Sear rest of cube steaks and place in crockpot.
  • Turn off burner. In same skillet stir together rotel, cream of soup, broth, onion soup mix, gravy mix until well mixed.
  • Pour mixture over the cube steaks in crockpot.
  • Place lid on crockpot and cook on high for 3 1/2 - 4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours until fork tender.
  • I love to serve up over heated and seasoned Bob Evans mashed potatoes and a favorite side of broccoli.
