Lemon Pie Hawaiian Rolls

Turn a package of King's Hawaiian Rolls into the most delicious easy dessert. Reminds me of a filled donut.

Equipment

  • 9 x 13 baking dish
  • measuring spoons & bowls
  • zester
  • 1 1/2 cookie scoop
  • small whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ct) package King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 1 TBS softened butter
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 TBS honey
  • 1 TBS white granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 (22 oz) can lemon pie filling
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2-3 TBS heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread butter lightly in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • Pull apart Hawaiian rolls and place into prepared baking dish. Cut a square into each center of each top of roll and pull out the square & inside of roll about 1/2 way to bottom leaving an edging to hold filling.

  • Whisk together 1/3 melted butter, honey, and 1 TBS white granulated sugar in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush spread the butter in the insides and outsides of the rolls.
  • Using a 1 1/2 inch cookie scoop to fill rolls with lemon pie filling to the top.
  • Bake in preheated oven 12-15 minutes. Allow to slightly cool while making the glaze.
  • In a small bowl whisk together lemon juice, powdered sugar, and whipping cream. Drizzle over rolls. Enjoy.
