I love, love, love these biscuits. They come out so golden. The inside of the biscuits hold together so well. Across between a flaky biscuit and a crumble biscuit. So simple, easy, and delicious to put together. Perfect!
Angel Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup All Purpose Unbleached Flour I used King Arthur brand
- 1 cup Cake Flour I used King Arthur brand
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 TBS granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup crisco vegetable shortening needs to be cold
- 1 packet quick rise yeast or 2 1/4 tsp
- 2 TBS warm water
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with non stick cooking spray.
- In a small bowl combine yeast and warm water and set aside to proof. (5 minutes)
- In a large bowl using a whisk combine, all purpose flour, cake flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- Cut COLD shortening into flour mixture until small pea size.
- Pour in buttermilk and proofed yeast mixture.
- Stir gently until just combined.
- Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface, form ball and then roll out until about 1/2 inch high.
- Cut into 3 inch circles and place them on prepared baking sheet.
- Brush tops lightly with milk to help with browning.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
