Asian Style Meatloaf

A delicious moist and flavorful meatloaf full of favorite Asian ingredients. Change your meatloaf up to this tasty version.

Equipment

  • small mixing bowl
  • 9 x 5 x 3 baking loaf pan

Ingredients

  • 1 TBS cooking oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 green onions, sliced thin
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled & minced (sub 1/4 tsp ground ginger)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup panko crumbs or bread crumbs (unseasoned)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 TBS low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a medium skillet over medium high heat add oil and allow to heat up. Add in diced yellow onion, sliced green onion, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Saute for 3 minutes. Remove mixture from skillet and allow to cool in small bowl.
  • In a small bowl mix together ketchup and hoisin sauce.
  • In a large bowl combine ground pork, ground beef, panko crumbs, egg, black pepper, salt, soy sauce, 1/2 of the ketchup mixture, and all of the onion mixture.
  • Spray a 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray. Place loaf pan on a foil lined sheet pan. Place meatloaf mixture into loaf pan and pat down evenly.
  • Place in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and drain excess grease from pan carefully. Spread remainder 1/2 of the ketchup mixture on top of the meatloaf. Place meatloaf back in oven for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and allow to rest 10 minutes before serving.
