Instructions

  • Season roast with seasonings (salt, black pepper, garlic power, onion, powder, and smoked paprika) on all sides.
  • Heat 1 TBS cooking oil & 1 TBS butter in a large skillet over medium high heat until the oil and butter start to sizzle.
  • Place seasoned roast into skillet and allow to sear and brown for 4-5 minutes. Turn roast over and sear and brown and additional 4-5 minutes. Rotate the sides of roast around until browned, should take less than a minute.
  • Spray a 6 quart crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Place seared roast into bottom of crockpot. Pour both bottles of barbecue sauce over the roast.
  • Place lid on crockpot and cook roast for 4-6 hours on high or 8-10 hours on low until roast can easily fall apart or shred with a fork. (The timing depends on size of roast.)
  • Once roast is cooked tender, shred with forks. Delicious placed on a toasted buttered hamburger bun and served with delicious sides.
