Easy Apple Fritter Cake
A delight for Fall. Easy dessert using a box cake mix and delicious apples. Spices add a nice Fall Flavor. Bakery Style makes it so moist and fluffy.
Equipment
- cutting board & sharp knife
- large deep skillet
- spatula
- measuring cups & spoons
- 9 x 13 baking dish
- large mixing bowl
- wire whisk or electric hand mixer
- small bowl with small whisk
Ingredients
Cooking Apples
- 2 TBS butter
- 3 1/2 – 4 cups diced apples with skins on (3-4 medium apples)
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tsp apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 tsp salt
Cake Batter
- 1 (15.25) oz box yellow cake mix
- + ingredients listed on back of cake mix
- 2 tsp apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 TBS milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Cooking Apples
- Heat 2 TBS butter in a large skillet until it starts to sizzle. Add in diced apples, 1 tsp spice, 2 TBS brown sugar. Stir until apples soften down 5-8 minutes. Turn off heat and allow to slightly cool while making cake batter.
Making Cake Batter
- In a large mixing bowl whisk or blend together cake mix + ingredients listed on back of cake mix box, and 2 tsp apple pie or pumpkin pie spice.NOTE: for a bakery style cake switch out milk for the water, melted butter for the oil and add an extra egg.
- Pour batter into prepared baking dish and smooth evenly. Top with the cooked apple mixture evenly across the cake batter.
- Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until toothpick in center of cake comes out clean. Allow cake to cool completely.
Making Glaze
- In a small bowl whisk together powdered sugar and milk together to make a glaze. Drizzle glaze all over cake. Enjoy.
