What a fun way to put eggs in toast.
Eggs in a Hole
Ingredients
- bread slices
- eggs
- salt & pepper to taste
- butter
Instructions
- Using a small sharp knife, cookie cutters, edge of a glass, cut out shapes in the bread. Make sure to leave enough edging on the bread to toast. (Keep the cut out piece, as you will be cooking that also.)
- Lightly butter the bread and the cutout pieces.
- Place skillet on burner and turn on to medium heat. Allow to heat up.
- Place bread and the cutouts onto skillet.
- Gently crack egg and place in center of bread. Sprinkle egg only with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook for about 1-2 minutes until desired golden brown toasted look is on bottom of cutouts. Eggs at this point should be almost set.
- Flip over the toasted bread with egg in it and the cutouts. Cook for another 1 minute or so.
- Gently take the toasted egg and the cutouts out of skillet and place on a plate.
- I like to use the cut out to scoop out the yolk. Fun and delicious. Enjoy.
